Mahindra XEV 9E Electric SUV's Range In A Real-World Test [Video]
The Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9E deliveries have begun in India. So, naturally, a number of people who have bought these SUVs are now testing their real-world ranges. Recently, we have featured a few different videos of people testing out the range of the BE 6 electric SUV. Now, we have a video in which a vlogger was seen testing out the real-world range of the Mahindra XEV 9E. In this video, he mentions that he will be testing out the vehicle in city traffic as well as highways.
Mahindra XEV 9E real-world range test
This Mahindra XEV 9E real-world range test video has been shared on YouTube by The Viral Beans on their channel. In this video, the vlogger mentions that he will be testing out the real-world range of this coupe SUV. He states that this particular XEV 9E is the top-of-the-line Pack 3 variant. However, it has been optioned with the smaller 19-inch alloy wheels. Mahindra offers the XEV 9E with 20-inch alloy wheels as well.
He then mentions that, to do this, he, along with his friends, will be traveling from Gurgaon to Murthal. However, he added that at the time of reaching Murthal, they will be going via Delhi and its traffic-filled roads. Following this, he adds that after this, they will return to Gurgaon, but this will be by taking the Western Peripheral Expressway.
The vlogger highlighted that, in this trip, the vehicle will be driven through varied conditions of traffic and high-speed runs so that the result of the range test is as accurate as it could be. After this, he mentions that they fully charged the vehicle to 100 percent and reset the trip A meter to zero before commencing the road trip.
Mahindra XEV 9E range test begins
After the introduction, the vlogger starts driving the vehicle, and during this drive, he starts talking about the features offered in the XEV 9E. He starts by stating that the 16-speaker Harman and Kardon with Dolby Atmos provides a mind-blowing music experience. He then mentions that the vehicle also gets a triple-screen layout and shows the functionality of all three screens.
Following this, he gives the first update after driving the vehicle for 20 km. He mentions that the range on the vehicle is reduced from 100 percent to 95 percent, and it says that the vehicle can travel for 466 km more on the available charge. After this, he starts explaining the km per kWh unit. The vlogger states that this metric shows that, per kWh battery, the vehicle can be driven for the km displayed on the meter.
He calculated it first with 5.1 km per kWh, which comes out to around 395 km of range, as it is the 79 kWh battery pack variant. Following this, after some time, he mentions that the 5.1 km per kWh has now increased to 6.5 km per kWh. So, the new range estimate is 513 km. He adds that this metric is dynamic and changes according to the driving style, mode used, and other factors.
After this, the vlogger then gives the next update when the battery reaches 80 percent. At this point, the range shown on the odometer was 399 km, and the vehicle had driven for 85 km. Finally, he shows the end result at 42 percent battery. He states that the vehicle shows a remaining range of 192 km, and they had covered a total distance of 243.7 km. So, according to the calculation of the remaining charge, the vlogger estimates that the XEV 9E can provide a range of 350–500 km, which is very impressive considering the size of the vehicle.
