The Mahindra XEV 9e needs no introduction today. Launched in November last year, this electric SUV rose to instant acceptance. People love its coupe-like design and sophisticated styling cues. In the past few months, we even saw owners modifying this EV in various ways- from giving it new wheels and finer visual details to a complete interior makeover with new colours, upholstery, and seats. A new YouTube video shows an XEV 9e getting a Lamborghini Urus-like bright Yellow paint job! The finished product looks great...

Mahindra XEV 9e Gets Lamborghini-Like Colours

The video opens by showing the stock XEV. The donor car here is finished in the Nebula Blue colour. The XEV’s colour palette consists of seven shades. This paint job was done at Autorounders, a garage in Mumbai.

The host first appreciates the electric vehicle’s overall exterior and interior designs and even claims that this is likely the first full body paint job on the XEV in India.

A full repaint requires the garage to remove several body panels. Due to this, EV owners are usually hesitant to repaint their vehicles. This is not the first EV repaint project for this garage. They claim to be quite experienced in working on EVs, and the video even shows a fully repainted Hyundai Kona, one of its previous projects...

The host then says that the materials used in this repaint project have been imported from Germany and France. The owner of this XEV 9e has chosen a Lamborghini-like Yellow as the new colour.

The shop had initially given him three shades of Yellow to choose from. The owner finally decided to have his XEV painted ‘Giallo Auge’ (that’s what this shade of Yellow is called!). This colour is a popular choice among Lamborghini Urus buyers.

Another interesting thing is that this garage doesn’t just show owners pictures or photos of colours. Instead, they provide metallic plates painted with the desired shade to give the most realistic experience possible. For customers who are unable to do a walk-in to check these out, the garage sends these plates by courrier.

As the video progresses, we see the EV being worked on, in stages and with great precision. A worker mixes the paint carefully while others remove the EV’s metallic parts and prepare them for the repaint by cleaning and sanding.

The door claddings, mirror cars etc are removed. The customer wanted to have these in body colour. The rest of the car is also prepared for the paint job. This garage has a dedicated paint booth to ensure maximum quality and perfection. The staff takes time cleaning the EV before the actual repaint begins.

Finally, they do the base coat and subsequent coats, in stages. It is indeed satisfying to watch how the new colour is applied to the vehicle. The doors are painted separately. Later in the video, we get out first look at the finished car. It looks brilliant! Giallo Auge suits the XV 9e’s styling quite well.

Touches of Piano Black have been retained on the front and rear bumpers. Narrow Black strips can also be found along the sides. The roof retains the dark-tinted panoramic glass roof, striking a likeable contrast with the body colour. With this paint job, the XEV 9e now looks a lot like the Urus from some angles. Towards the end of this video, the owner can be seen happy and satisfied with the outcome.
