A Mahindra XUV 700 owner from Kerala is now battling legal troubles after his SUV hit a motorcyclist — but there’s a twist. The accident didn’t happen while he was driving. It was caused by someone at the dealership where his SUV was undergoing repairs, and he had absolutely nothing to do with it!

In a video shared by Focus News TV, we get to know what went wrong in this case and how much this owner had to suffer just because he bought an XUV 700. Aneesh Gopal, a resident of Kumbazha in Pathanamthitta, is the unfortunate owner.

He purchased the XUV 700 on December 20, 2024, from Meridian Moto. The vehicle that was delivered to him had several manufacturing defects, which he later pointed out to the dealer. The dealership agreed to get them fixed soon and free of cost.

After getting the first service done, he was told that the dealer was waiting for some of the parts to arrive so that the defects could be rectified. On April 10, 2025, Aneesh took the vehicle to the dealership to get these fixes done. He was told that it would take a day and he would be getting the SUV back the next day- that never happened!

On April 11, he came to know that his SUV was involved in a horrific crash. It had hit a motorcyclist causing serious injuries to him. The blame allegedly goes to a dealer staff, who took it for an outing without the knowledge or permission of the owner, and rammed into the bike at a high speed. The impact was big enough to cause severe damage to the XUV's front end. The front axle, wheels and overhangs seem to have been damaged in the crash.

The dealership did not inform the owner about the accident. He, however, got to know about it from a friend who happened to see the debris. Eyewitnesses said that the XUV 700 was overspeeding through the wrong lane/side. Aneesh immediately called the dealership. They acknowledged the incident and reassured him that they would give him a new vehicle as a replacement. The crashed SUV was soon moved to Aranmula police station. It has remained there ever since.

This customer has been adamant about getting a new car as replacement and doesn't want the 'repaired' crashed vehicle. In addition to this, he has also been demanding a compensation, which could possibly cover the money he had spent on accessorising the crashed SUV. The dealer had initially agreed to these demands, but later showed no interest in following it up. Gradually, their stand shifted to getting the crashed car repaired free of cost and delivering to the buyer. Aneesh strongly opposed this and demanded a new vehicle.

At some point in time, the dealership agreed the 'new car' demand and initiated the paperwork for the same. They made the customer pay Rs 50,000 in insurance for the new vehicle and even issued a TP (Temporary permit), as Aneesh wanted to opt for a VIP/fancy number later.

The owner soon got to learn from the RT office that the temporary permit of his 'new' vehicle was slated for cancellation according to a request from the dealer. Aneesh thinks that the dealer has no intention to give him a new XUV and was probably trying to cheat him. He accuses the dealer to have had plans to give him the crashed vehicle, after getting it repaired.

In the days that followed, he found himself being sued in four different cases! All this while, Aneesh has been paying the crashed vehicle's EMI without any lapse, which amounts to around Rs 40,000 per month.

The grievances of this customer need to be addressed urgently. One should not end up facing insult, mental stress and complex legal battles just because he/she chose to buy a vehicle! Peace is of prime importance in car ownership. We hope this XUV 700 owner is served justice soon...
