Mahindra XUV500 Shields Maruti Ertiga After Truck Falls On Both Cars: Owner Thanks Anand Mahindra
Sometimes it's just a matter of a few seconds that decides if one gets involved in a car accident or not. Recently, a few images were shared online by the owner of a Mahindra XUV500. He explained that his XUV500 played an instrumental role in saving a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and its occupants when a truck fell on his SUV and the Ertiga driving behind him. The owner highlighted that if he had been two seconds faster, the Ertiga would have been crushed, killing its occupants.
Mahindra XUV500 saves Maruti Ertiga
The images showing how the Mahindra XUV500 was able to keep him and an Ertiga safe during an accident where a truck flipped were shared on X by Ashish Sinha on his page. It starts off with the owner mentioning that on August 14th, he was involved in an extremely serious accident. As per the owner, he was driving his Mahindra XUV500 on the Bangalore-Chennai highway next to a loaded truck.
He then mentioned that just behind his SUV was a blue-colored Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. Its occupants included a couple and their young child. What happened next was that the truck on the right side toppled and fell on the XUV500 and the Ertiga. The owner shared images showing the fallen truck on both of these vehicles.
In the comments section of this post, the owner shared an image that revealed why the truck had fallen. What actually happened was that this truck driver was trying to overtake the XUV500 and the Ertiga from the right side.
However, when he saw a drum on the road’s right side and mud present on the road, he lost control and crashed. The owner in his post also revealed that the truck was overloaded and the driver was drunk, which caused this accident.
We can note that the front half portion of the truck was on the rear right side of the XUV500, and the rear portion of the truck had completely fallen on the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga behind. As per the owner, his vehicle was completely destroyed, yet he was completely safe and managed to come out unhurt.

The Mahindra XUV500 owner, in his X post, shared a few of his thoughts. The owner highlighted that although his beloved XUV500 was completely destroyed by the fallen truck, he was able to walk out alive from this accident because of the sheer structural strength of the machine (his SUV).
He also added that the news on local WhatsApp groups was that the XUV500 driver was dead. The owner, in his post, then stated that soon after the accident happened and he was waiting for help, he was thinking that if he had been two seconds faster, he would have easily avoided this entire accident.
The owner, however, also highlighted that if this had been the case, the occupants, including a couple and their child in the Ertiga, would have most certainly died due to the impact of the truck. He stated, “They survived because my XUV absorbed the load. So yeah, thanks to @anandmahidnra and the engineering team at @mahindrarise.” In his post, he added that he will now figure out what will replace his XUV500, as the insurance company has deemed it a total loss.
