Mahindra ZEO Electric Owners Share Their Ownership Experience Of The Last Mile Delivery EV

Earlier, the last mile delivery transportation industry was dominated by small and large petrol and diesel four-wheelers. However, as ICE commercial vehicles cost a lot of money to maintain and their running costs are higher, new electric LCVs are taking over the market. Of these, the latest and the most popular last mile electric vehicle is the Mahindra ZEO (Zero Emission Option), which was launched last year. Since then, the company has already helped many entrepreneurs and small businesses in expanding their business in a cost-effective way. Recently, two such businessmen have shared their experience of owning the Mahindra ZEO.
The first Mahindra ZEO ownership review has been shared on YouTube by Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited on their official channel. In this short video, a logistics company owner, Maxon Lewis, talks about his experience of buying and owning a Mahindra Zeo. He starts by mentioning that he owns Magenta Mobility, which is based out of Turbhe, Navi Mumbai.
He starts by stating that when we are in the business of logistics, where we want to provide the service on an electric vehicle to a client, the one and the most important thing is reliability. Lewis then adds that for this reason, he opted for the Mahindra ZEO electric LCV, as it offers a real-world range of 150–160 km even under full payload capacity.
After this, he elaborates that currently, in India, most charging stations offer CCS2 charging. As a result of this, he can let his Mahindra ZEO drive to any city, and it can get charged quickly using the wide charging network. He then adds that, as the Mahindra ZEO is an electric vehicle, the maintenance cost of it is very low. The owner highlights that the ZEO does not require any fuel, nor does it require any oil change.
As a result of this, the downtime of the Mahindra ZEO is very low. This means that his company can provide last mile delivery without any interruption and in a cost-effective manner. He added that for this reason, he loves the Mahindra ZEO and whenever someone asks him if they should buy this vehicle or not, the answer he gives is that “electricity is the new oil,” and in this journey, if you opt for a Mahindra ZEO, you'll only benefit from it.
In addition to the above review, the company has also shared another owner review. The owner of a bakery, Bharat Talreja, mentions that he also owns a Mahindra ZEO electric LCV. He starts the video by mentioning that when his company had diesel vehicles for last mile delivery, their maintenance was extremely high. Talreja elaborated that the biggest problem was that the real fuel efficiency of these diesel vehicles was never found out.
He added that there was a problem of fuel theft as well, and for these reasons, they shifted from diesel vehicles to electric vehicles. Talreja then states that there were multiple options in the electric LCV segment. However, the price of Rs 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom) of the Mahindra ZEO was very low, and in comparison, its service cost is also very low.
The bakery company owner then adds that another benefit of the Mahindra ZEO is that it comes equipped with a large battery pack, which offers a range of 160 km. And it is especially useful for them, as their vehicles drive 140–150 km every day. He added that so far, the Mahindra ZEO has been maintenance-free and has helped his company in saving Rs 15,000–20,000 in fuel costs every month.
The Mahindra ZEO LCV is offered in multiple variants, namely V1 FSD priced at Rs 7.67 lakh, and V1 Delivery at Rs 7.98 lakh. Then there are the V2 FSD at Rs 7.85 lakh, and Rs 8.15 lakh for the V2 Delivery Van. It comes with a 30 kW electric motor capable of making 114 Nm of torque. Battery pack options include a 21.3 kWh unit offering 246 km of range and an 18.4 kWh battery pack.
