Man Tears Apart One Month Old Road By Hand To Highlight Poor Quality: Video Goes Viral

We have come across several videos and social media posts about the quality of road works in many parts of India. The current government and its leaders have spoken about making Indian roads world-class on several occasions. However, the reality is far from the promises. Here we have another video where a man is seen tearing up a one-month-old road with nothing but his bare hands.
The video has been shared by HK Chronicle on their Instagram page. In this video, we see a man sitting in the middle of the road and tearing it apart with his hands. He is not using any tools; just by using his hands, he is able to destroy the road. The road seen in the video is actually in Maharashtra’s Nanded and was built only a month ago.
If you watch the video carefully, you will realize that the person sitting on the road is not putting in too much effort to pull out a portion of the tarmac. He keeps pulling out sections of asphalt, and we can even see the surface underneath the road. The road seen here was built between Dugaon in Nashik district and Dongargaon in Pune district, and it was constructed only a month ago. Soon after the inauguration, potholes started appearing on the road.
Locals had raised concerns about the quality of the road and even said that very little asphalt was used, and the layer under the road was not prepared properly. After the video of the man pulling out the road surface with bare hands, people have come forward raising questions about the quality. Locals have even demanded action against the contractor in this case.
This is not the first time we have come across a report like this on the internet. Last month, a road was built in Bihar’s Jehanabad, about 50 km from Patna. This was a ₹100 crore project, and for this project, a few trees needed to be cut. However, the district administration denied permission to cut the trees, and the people who were building the road decided to construct it around the trees. This has created inconvenience for commuters, and several accidents have also been reported.
Similarly, in 2023, villagers from Jalna district in Maharashtra lifted the top layer of a newly constructed road with their bare hands, exposing a cloth underneath. The recently inaugurated Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, known as the Samruddhi Expressway, also has issues.
A concrete slab from a flyover on the Samruddhi Expressway fell off just three days after its inauguration. The total cost of this 701 km long expressway was around ₹55,000 crore.
We also came across another video on the internet where a social media user posted footage of a newly inaugurated flyover in Kalyan with loose gravel from the asphalt, posing threats to motorists.
Several bikers have already fallen on the flyover as the surface was too slippery. Not just Maharashtra, such issues have been pointed out by people and media from different parts of the country.
