People in India, over the last few years, have started modifying their cars to the extreme. These modifications include body kits, custom paint and wrap jobs, and most importantly, extremely large aftermarket alloy wheels. Now, generally, we see these modifications on popular Indian cars like SUVs and premium hatchbacks, along with others. However, recently, we came across a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 hatchback, which has been given massive 18-inch alloy wheels that make it look like an SUV.

Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 with Massive 18-Inch Alloys

The videos showing this extremely unique Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 have been shared on Instagram by Alto 800 Wale on their page. In these short videos, we can note that the owner has modified his Alto 800 hatchback with the addition of massive 18-inch alloy wheels. In order to fit these alloy wheels, the owner had to cut the front and rear fenders of this hatchback.

Additionally, the vehicle has also been given a lift kit along with new suspension components, which help this vehicle maintain stability. Apart from these mechanical modifications, the vehicle owner has also added aftermarket LED underglow lights, which give this vehicle a unique appearance during nighttime. It looks like a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) modified car.

Apart from these five-spoke alloy wheels, the owner has also shared other videos of the car with different sets of alloy wheels as well. Also, currently, the vehicle has been fitted with 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels. However, prior to these, the owner has also experimented with 17-inch and even massive 20-inch alloy wheels as well. As a result of these alloy wheels, this Alto 800, while driving on the road, actually looks like an SUV.

Is Adding Such Massive Alloy Wheels Safe?

The simple answer is no. Adding such humongous aftermarket alloy wheels is not safe for any car. It is especially not safe for a Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. This particular entry-level family hatchback has not been designed to accommodate such large alloy wheels. As mentioned, the owner had to cut the fenders of the vehicle in order to fit them.

This voids the warranty of the vehicle. Also, these alloy wheels increase the unsprung weight of the vehicle as well, which adds additional strain on the powertrain, suspension, and other mechanical components of the vehicle. Lastly, aftermarket alloy wheels are not very reliable and are prone to breaking down in case of an impact, which adds another layer of danger.

Apart from the above-shown Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, there are numerous other vehicles and their owners who have added massive alloy wheels to their vehicles. Just a while ago, we came across a Toyota Fortuner, which looked ridiculous due to the addition of massive 26-inch alloy wheels. The owner had also added aftermarket LED lights behind these alloy wheels to make them look more unique during the night.

Also, just a few weeks ago, we featured a Volkswagen Virtus with 20-inch alloy wheels. The owner of this sedan also had to cut the front fenders of his sedan to fit these massive alloy wheels. In a video, the owner mentioned that this set of alloy wheels cost him Rs 1.1 lakh, and he has also spent Rs 1.5 lakh on a custom audio system as well.
