Maruti Baleno latest pricing compared to Swift's price

The price of the new Swift starts at Rs. 6.49 lakh which is just Rs. 17,000 short of than the starting price of the Baleno. In comparison, the Baleno is bigger and offers a four cylinder engine. Additionally, the brand is offering the Baleno with various discounts which reduce the starting price of this premium hatchback to just Rs. 6.09 lakh. This translates to the Baleno being Rs. 40,000 cheaper than the Swift. Today, we will discuss what the base Sigma trim of Baleno offers at a price point of Rs. 6.09 lakh.

Watch on YouTube

The car is shown in a YouTube video uploaded by Fuel Injected. The host has humorously titled this video as “New Swift ke sath galat hua.” Now, let’s start with the video.

The host mentions that the car is being offered with benefits of up to Rs. 57,000 and if you buy the manual transmission you will get a direct discount of Rs. 35,000. The remaining benefits are in the form of exchange offers, consumer benefits etc. The AMT version is being offered with direct discount of Rs. 40,000.

The video starts with the front profile of the car which features an all black grille. The headlights are halogen projector units and the car misses out on fog lamps and DRls. In the side profile, the Baleno gets 15-inch steel rims.

The door handles and the ORVMs are finished in rough black which is a disappointing bit. Additionally, the indicators are mounted on the fenders instead of being on the ORVMs. The B pillar which is finished in black in higher variants, is body colored in the base trim.

At the rear, the Baleno gets LED taillights which are the same as the ones offered in top trim. However, the Baleno Sigma misses out on multiple important features such as a reverse parking camera, rear wiper with washer, defogger and a shark fin antenna. One good thing is that the car is offered with four reverse parking sensors as standard.

The host shows us the boot space as well which is about 53 liters more than the Swift. Additionally, the rear seats get 60:40 split and three adjustable headrests as standard which is a positive point. The front row headrests are adjustable as well.

After showing the exterior, the host shifts to the interior. The cabin gets a dual tone treatment of dark blue and black with silver elements. The base trim of Baleno gets some premium elements in the interior such as dark blue fabric on door pads. The host adds that the door pads of the Baleno are bigger than the door pads of Swift. Additionally, the Baleno gets all four powered windows as standard. In terms of space, the Baleno is way better than the Swift.

The AC is manual but gets a digital display. This is the same unit which is offered in the Swift. The disappointing part in the base trims of both the Baleno and Swift are their ORVMs which have to be adjusted manually by touching the glass.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno is powered by a 1.2-litre four cylinder petrol engine that produces 88 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT which is offered from Delta trim onwards.
