India’s First Maruti Jimny Automatic With Aftermarket CNG Is Here [Video]
A number of off-roading enthusiasts have bought the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The primary reason why people buy this SUV is because of its off-roading capabilities. However, due to these capabilities, the Jimny becomes slightly less fuel-efficient than other Maruti Suzuki cars. To solve this issue of low fuel efficiency, a video showing an owner of a Jimny automatic getting a CNG kit fitted into his SUV has recently been shared online.
Jimny Automatic with CNG Kit
This video of the Jimny fitted with an aftermarket CNG kit has been shared on YouTube, courtesy of Carscrew. In this video, the vlogger takes his SUV to a shop in Sonipat, Haryana, which fits CNG kits to different cars. He mentions that his Jimny is the first Jimny automatic with a CNG kit.
Following the introduction, the vlogger first shows the rear end, where the CNG tank holder was being fitted. He highlights that the shop has created a custom bracket that has been mounted to the body of the car. He states that this has been done to avoid any rattling in the future.
After showing this, he goes to the front of the vehicle and asks the owner of the shop if they are facing any difficulty in fitting this aftermarket CNG kit to the Jimny. The owner replies that it’s not very hard and that it is just like any other car that gets a CNG kit.
Next, the vlogger asks about the placement of the reducer and filling nozzle point. The owner of the shop replies that the reducer has been fitted on the firewall, while the filling point will be located in two places: one at the front and one at the rear beside the fuel filler cap.
Final Touches
Moving on, the vlogger shows the interior of the car, where a technician shows him the location where the button for CNG will go. After this, he skips to the part after the complete fitment of the CNG kit and states they will be going to the nearest CNG station to get the tank full.
Following this, he reaches the CNG station, and they start filling the tank of the car with CNG. He states that, in total, the SUV has taken around ₹750 worth of CNG. After this, they bring the Jimny with the CNG kit back to the shop for final adjustments.
When they reach the shop, the owner of the shop connects his laptop to the ECU of the CNG kit and programs it. The vlogger then asks if he needs to add everything himself or if it is done automatically. The owner replies that it is done automatically.
Final Result
Finally, after the completion of the installation of this aftermarket CNG kit, the vlogger shows the engine bay of the SUV. He shows the position of the reducer, filling point, ECU, advancer, and the custom rails that inject the CNG into the cylinders. He then asks the owner of the shop about the mileage. The owner replies that the SUV will now offer around 25 kmpl.
From the factory, the Jimny comes powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 105 hp and 134 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The car also features Maruti Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD tech as standard across all variants and in stock form it offers a mileage of 16-17 kmpl.
