Old Vs New Maruti Suzuki Dzire Drag Race: Guess Who Won? [Video]

Maruti Suzuki recently launched its newest sub-compact sedan, the fourth-generation Dzire, in India. This new model has been modernized a lot, and it now looks much more premium than before. However, the only downside of the new model, according to many people, is the new, smaller 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine. Many believe that this engine does not feel as refined as the previous model. Recently, a drag race between the old and new models was held. The results of this drag race? Well, you’ll have to find out for yourself.
The video of the drag race between the old and new Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been shared on YouTube by Vishu Chaudhary on their channel. It starts off with a vlogger mentioning that, so far, no one on YouTube has shared a video of a drag race between an old-generation Dzire and a new-generation Dzire. Following the introduction, the vlogger starts talking about the engine and power differences of these sedans.
First off, he mentions that the car on the left is the old Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which comes equipped with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder engine that makes 89 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. He adds that this particular model is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Next, he talks about the engine of the new Dzire, which is a 1.2-litre Z12E, three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 80 bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque. It is also a 5-speed manual variant, he highlights.
After talking about the engine specifications of the two vehicles, the vlogger and his friends line up the two sub-compact sedans next to each other. He then states that for the first round, they will both be turning off the traction control of the car. However, they will both keep the air conditioning systems turned on. Soon after this, the first drag race commences.
We can note that immediately after some wheelspin, both cars get traction, and the old model drives ahead. The video shows that it creates such a huge gap that the new Dzire, even after reaching 140 kmph, could not come anywhere near it. Following this first round, both drivers again line up the cars. This time, the new-generation model driver asks the old-generation model driver to keep the air conditioning system running.
In the meantime, he turns off the air conditioning system of his own car. After this, they start the race again, and this time as well, the old-generation model easily beats the new-generation Dzire. The driver of the new Dzire highlights that the launch of both vehicles is perfect and that there is no issue with gear shifting either.
Next up, for the third round, the old Dzire’s traction control was turned on, and the air conditioning system was also kept running. As a change in result, this time, the old model lagged a little and was left behind by the new Dzire. However, just when the driver of the new Dzire thought he had won the race, the old model came back and passed the new model at around 120 kmph.
The driver of the old-generation model stated that his launch was not ideal because of a shifting error. So they once again re-raced with the same setup, and this time, the old model was able to launch perfectly and get the lead from the start. Finally, it can be noted that the old model offers better performance than the new Dzire.
