When it comes to cars with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), we tend to think that it can only be had with expensive cars. However, this is not true, as recently a video shared online shows an all-new 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift with ADAS. Yes, you heard that right, a Swift with ADAS. The vlogger in the video shared how he managed to get ADAS in his Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback.

ADAS in Maruti Suzuki Swift

This video of the Maruti Suzuki Swift with ADAS has been shared on YouTube by MRD Cars on their channel. In this video, the vlogger highlights that he was looking at dashcams for his newly bought Swift. He then states that he came across a high-quality dashcam that also offers ADAS. Following this, he explains how this dashcam’s ADAS works.

For this, he first unboxes the dashcam and mentions that it comes with full 1080p HD video recording and ADAS features. After this, he shows the cable and the dashcam itself, and he then explains the method of installation. He first places the dashcam behind the IRVM and then routes the wire through the top and A-pillar.

Next up, he passes the cord through the glovebox and connects the USB cable to the Android system. He highlights that the only drawback of this dashcam is that it only works with an aftermarket Android player. So, those who have a company-fitted music system might not be able to utilize the ADAS features.

Following the installation, the vlogger then first turns on the dashcam and then calibrates the ADAS system. Following this, he shows that as soon as the car changes lanes, the warning of lane departure chimes. He highlights that it uses the car’s speakers to alert the driver.

After this, the vlogger mentions that the car also shows the approximate distance from the vehicle in front. The video shows that as soon as the vehicle with the dashcam comes near to the car in front, the speakers alert the driver with a front collision warning.

How Accurate is This System?

From what the video shows, the dashcam, with the help of its camera, can give an approximate distance. However, it has to be noted that it might not be as sophisticated as ADAS systems that come on high-end cars from the factory. Those systems utilize complex cameras and radar systems that provide more detailed information.

Also, the Level 2 ADAS on modern Indian cars offers numerous other features such as adaptive cruise control, high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic emergency braking. Some cars also offer driver drowsiness alerts as well.

Now, we understand that this system might not be the best. However, it can still be a good addition for those drivers who drive often on highways. It can help them to have some accident avoidance systems in their car for a fraction of the price.

This particular dashcam is listed on Amazon for Rs 4000. This makes it a decent value for money as its main function is recording footage as a dashcam, and these ADAS features are added benefits.
