Wild Elephant Stomps Man Who Tried To Take Selfie: Maruti Swift Driver Posts Video

Elephants are generally very calm animals; however, when they feel threatened, they can easily destroy anything that comes in their way. Recently, a video went viral on the internet in which a wild elephant was seen stomping over a man who had reportedly gotten out of his car to click pictures with it. Thankfully, it has been reported that the man is alive, but the video gives an important lesson that wildlife should be enjoyed from a distance.
This video, showing a man getting run over by a wild elephant, has been shared on YouTube by 69Thewanderlust on their channel. As per the post, this video was shot in the Bandipur wildlife corridor on the Ooty–Mysore National Highway. This particular road goes through a forest where elephants are commonly seen, and in this case, a man was seen getting stomped by an elephant.
Reportedly, this particular man stepped out of his car and went extremely close to the elephant to take a selfie. However, the elephant got enraged and started chasing him. In this short clip, we can note that the elephant was on the right of this single-lane road and was looking towards the man, who was on the grass on the other side.
Following this, a white-colored Maruti Suzuki Swift tried passing the elephant. However, most likely this triggered the wild animal, which then started running towards the man on the other side. Soon after, the man started running away from the elephant. But he tripped and fell on the road, after which the elephant stomped over him and moved away.
The same video then shows the view from the cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Swift. We can note that the man was trying to run away, but after he fell, the elephant did not stop and ran over him. It has been reported that the man was seriously injured due to this incident and was immediately taken to the hospital. Thankfully, he is alive at the moment.
As mentioned above, this particular man stepped out of his car just to take a selfie with the elephant. Now, although elephants are generally very calm, there is no certainty that they will remain calm in the wild. Unfortunately for this man, he learned this simple lesson the extremely hard way. Most wild animals, despite seeing humans on a regular basis due to such roads, are still not trained to be around us.
So, for anyone to assume that they can get very close to such wild animals is nothing but stupidity. Over the years, there have been numerous cases where elephants have chased humans in cars during wildlife safaris. However, despite these cases coming to light regularly, some people still don’t learn and do stupid stunts.
Back in 2023, a video went viral on the internet in which a 32-year-old woman reportedly got out of her car after an argument with her husband in a wildlife sanctuary in China, where cars were allowed. Security camera footage then showed the exact moment when a tiger pounced on her, dragging her away from the vehicle.
