Truck Full Of Bricks Falls On New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Car Remains Intact [Video]

For the longest time, it has been joked that the Maruti Suzuki Swift is a very light and unsafe vehicle, incapable of protecting anyone during a crash. However, with the latest fourth generation of the Swift hatchback, Maruti Suzuki has made major improvements. Recently, a video was shared online showcasing the new Swift’s strength. In this short clip, a truck full of bricks can be seen fallen over a Swift, and despite this, the Swift remained intact.
The video showing how sturdy the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is has been shared on Instagram by Drift XP on their channel. It starts off with the front view of the Swift. We can see that a truck full of extremely large and heavy bricks had fallen over the Swift. The truck was on the left side, and the Swift was parked right next to a wall.
It can be observed that the bricks from the truck bed had fallen on the roof and bonnet of the vehicle. What’s interesting is that despite the truck being completely tipped over and all of these bricks on top, the Swift still looks decent. The front and rear windshields are broken, and the roof has been destroyed. However, the rest of the body has managed to sustain the damage.
Maruti Suzuki has not officially sent the Swift for crash testing by Bharat or Global NCAP. However, its sibling, the new-generation Dzire, which is based on the same Heartect platform, has managed to score a perfect 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP. The Dzire received 31.24 points out of 34 total points in the adult occupant protection test.
On the other hand, it scored 39.20 points out of 42 in child occupant protection tests. As per Bharat NCAP, the new Dzire also has a stable body shell and a stable footwell area. So, it would be safe to assume that the new Swift will boast the same safety rating.
Over the years, people have shared numerous videos showing the Swift with flexing body panels. These videos highlighted that the Swift has very thin sheet metal on the outside and would not be able to keep its passengers safe. However, it must be mentioned that this is not the case.
A true parameter that ensures whether a vehicle is safe or not is the use of crash structures present inside the car. A safe car should have crumple zones, which, during an accident, take the brunt of the impact and keep the passengers inside the vehicle safe. The thin outer sheet metal is just for cosmetic appeal and has nothing to do with the actual safety of a vehicle.
Just a few weeks ago, another video was shared online. In this video, the condition of a brand-new Dzire after suffering a dangerous accident was shown. The entire front and rear ends of this particular Maruti Suzuki Dzire were crushed and damaged. Also, the front airbags were deployed, which must have saved the driver and the front passenger.
The above incident involving the Swift is not the first time we have seen a truck fallen over a vehicle. Just a while ago, a video was shared online in which a truck was seen tipped over a Honda Elevate. It was noted that the truck was carrying metal pipes. Thankfully, the Honda Elevate in this incident managed to survive.
