Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG With Underbody Tank: Real World Mileage Test [Video]

Maruti Suzuki recently launched its latest mid-size SUV, the Victoris, in India. This Hyundai Creta-rivaling SUV has also been given a few CNG variants as well. What makes the Victoris CNG special is that it is the first-ever Maruti Suzuki car with an underbody CNG tank. Recently, a vlogger who bought a CNG Victoris set out to check its real-world mileage, and a video of it has been shared online.
This video of Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG’s real-world fuel efficiency test has been shared on YouTube by Tarun Vlogs on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger taking his newly bought Victoris CNG for its first-ever fuel-up at a CNG station. He mentions that during the delivery, he was given a tank of CNG free of cost by the dealership.
After this, the host highlights that so far, with the company-provided CNG fill-up, the vehicle drove for about 101 km. Following this, he then gets out of the car and shows the underbody CNG tank and the boot space provided in the rear due to the placement of the tank underneath the car. The vehicle was then parked to get it filled with CNG.
Following this, the owner asked the CNG pump attendant to fill the vehicle with exactly 1 kg of CNG gas. He then drove off the SUV outside the pump and talked about a safety feature. He highlighted that when the vehicle's fuel lid is open and there is an attempt to turn it on, it would not start and would keep cranking. This is done to avoid any accident.
The vlogger then resets the trip meter to zero km and engages the CNG mode. He then keeps driving the vehicle in normal traffic on the highway at a speed of around 40-50 kmph. The presenter mentions that according to the company, the Victoris CNG offers 27 km/kg mileage. However, in this test, the owner was able to drive the vehicle for about 28.5 km before the CNG tank was empty.
Maruti Suzuki offers the Victoris CNG in four variants, namely - LXI starting at Rs 11.49 lakh, VXI at Rs 12.79 lakh, ZXI at Rs 14.56 lakh, and lastly ZXI dual tone priced at Rs 14.72 lakh. All of these variants come with the same 1.5-litre K15C, four-cylinder petrol engine making 87 bhp and 121 Nm of torque.
These new engines are now E20-compliant as well. CNG variants only get a single 5-speed manual gearbox option. In terms of features, the ZXI variant of the Victoris CNG comes equipped with LED daytime running lights, automatic headlights, LED fog lamps, and blacked-out 17-inch alloy wheels. It also gets a rear window wiper and washer, and a powered tailgate with gesture control.
Additionally, on the inside, it gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster, and black seat covers. The Victoris in India rivals the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and others.
