Swift Driver Pulls Handbrake Suddenly; See What Happened! [Video]

If you have been driving on Indian roads, you would know that our roads are filled with surprises. There is always someone on the road who thinks he is better than others and drives recklessly. This irresponsible behaviour on the road often leads to accidents and create inconvenience to other road users. Here we have one such video where a Maruti Swift driver learned a lesson after pulling the handbrakes of the car while in motion.

The video has been shared by bad drivers of Bangalore on Instagram. The video was recorded in the dashcam of a vehicle that was behind this Swift. The accident likely happened somewhere in Karnataka. As the vehicles were being driven on highway, they were all maintaining a decent speed and soon, we see that the Swift crossed an intersection.

The dashcam car was also behind the Swift maintaining a safe distance. Just after crossing the intersection, we notice that the tail of the Swift starts coming out and the car lost control. The Swift crashed into the median and we see the wheel cap of the car simply flew off the vehicle. The hatchback crashed and it even had two of its wheels up in the air for few seconds.

The car however, came down and it looks like the occupants were all safe inside the car. So what exactly happened here. If you watch the video carefully. Just before the Swift lost control, we see that the rear wheels of the hatchback got locked. This means someone engaged the parking brake on the car while it was in motion.

If you engage handbrake in a moving car, the rear wheels will get locked and the car will loose control as seen here. The owner or the driver of the car was lucky that there was a railing on the median which stopped the car from going to the opposite lane. As this was a highway, a speeding vehicle coming from the opposite direction could have easily hit the Swift.

We are not sure what exactly happened here. Did the driver pull the handbrake or did anyone sitting inside the car other than the driver pulled the handbrake. We often see kids playing inside the moving car. It is possible that a kid might have pulled the lever as they are not aware of the consequences.

If the driver had intentionally pulled the handbrake, then we are sure that he might have learned his lesson by now and he won’t be doing this stunt on public roads anymore. The dashcam car that was behind the Swift was maintaining a safe distance and this allowed the driver to turn the car away from the Swift.

If the Swift was too close to the dashcam car, then it would have easily rear-ended the Swift and the damages and injuries would have been much more. Always be careful while driving on Indian roads and if you have kids in the car, ensure that they are not left unsupervised.

We are not sure if it was kid who caused this crash this is just an assumption as the video doesn’t share much details. Be alert on the road to avoid such accidents in future.
