Maruti Suzuki Victoris And Tata Nexon '5 Star Rated' SUVs Crash Into Each Other: Here’s The Result

Tata cars are known for their build quality and we have come across several videos that have proven the same. In many cases, occupants in Tata cars have walked away with no injuries even after a major crash. Lately, other brands like Maruti Suzuki have also started working on build quality. Here, we have a video from Uttarakhand where a Maruti Victoris and a Tata Nexon had a crash on a mountain road. The results of the crash may leave you surprised.
The video has been shared by Dehradun Wale Official on their Instagram page. The video mentions that the accident happened in the Almora region of Uttarakhand. The video starts by showing the rear of the Maruti Victoris. It looks like the Tata Nexon and the Victoris had the crash on a curve of a hilly road. The video then shows the Nexon. This is the facelift model of the Nexon that was available in the market before the current one.
The right-side front end of the Tata Nexon is damaged. A portion of the bonnet looks damaged and the front bumper, headlights, fender and even the fog lamps are seriously damaged. The driver-side front wheel on the Nexon is also damaged. Usually, we don’t see such major damage on a Tata car after an accident.
In such accidents, everyone usually expects that the other car would have been destroyed completely. However, to everyone’s surprise, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris performed well in this crash. The bumper, headlamp and fender of the Victoris look damaged in this accident. The wheels look intact and, in fact, it looks like the Victoris is still in working condition.
The comment section under this video is filled with sarcastic comments from those who used to troll Maruti for their build quality. Some of the comments are: “Now Tata will sit in SVC for months. Maruti will come back in 1 week?”, “Victoris looks way better here”, “Finally a worthy opponent” and so on.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris is one of the first SUVs from Maruti to score a full 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. It scored 31.66 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Safety and 43 points out of 49 in Child Occupant Safety.
The Tata Nexon seen here is the pre-facelift model and Bharat NCAP didn’t exist back then. The SUV had scored a 5-star rating at Global NCAP but the crash test parameters for both tests are different. Nexon is also a sturdily built vehicle and it should be noted that the results of this crash do not prove that Nexon is an unsafe vehicle by any means.
The SUV is still a strong and safe model. The Maruti Victoris is a much more updated and newer model, which means it uses better materials for enhanced structural strength. We have also seen many people flex the exterior panels of these SUVs to test build quality. This is not the right way to check it, as the exterior panels are meant to flex - it is the structure under the skin that provides the actual strength.
