Buying a brand-new Maybach today costs upwards of Rs 3.5 crore. However, there are a lot of Mercedes-Benz S-Class owners who are now converting their old S-Class models into Maybachs for a fraction of the cost. These cars are sent to professional shops that have mastered the art of old-to-new shape conversions. Recently, a video of one of the most beautifully converted S-Class to Maybach cars was shared online.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class converted into Maybach

This video of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class to Maybach conversion has been shared on YouTube by Autorounders. It starts off with the owner of the shop mentioning that this particular Mercedes-Benz S-Class was sent to them for conversion by one of their existing clients. He added that this is the seventh car they have customized for him.

Following this, he explains the plan for this S-Class. The owner states they are converting this W222 S-Class to a W222 Maybach. He added that there are kits available to convert the W222 S-Class to a W223 Maybach, which is the current generation model. However, it looks slightly more elegant, and the W222 Maybach looks slightly more aggressive. As a result, the owner of this S-Class has opted for the W222 Maybach kit.

The owner of the shop then starts explaining the scope of work on this sedan. He highlights that they are changing the LED headlights, front upper and lower grilles, front and rear bumpers, and all the logos. He added that the owner has also opted for a dual-tone paint job consisting of two colors: Mojave Silver for the top and Emerald Green on the bottom.

He also highlights that the paint material used by their shop is from the same German company that provides paint to Mercedes-Benz. After this, the vehicle goes into the paint booth for the complete color change. The painter first carefully paints the top portion of this sedan in Mojave Silver.

Following this, the upper portion is taped with precision to get the perfect line, after which the Emerald Green color is sprayed on the lower part of this Maybach conversion. Finally, the car gets a clear coat, which gives it a deep, glossy finish.

Interior upgrades

The owner of the shop mentions that the owner of this S-Class wanted to get a fully custom Nappa leather interior. Its original white leather interior was completely worn out and dirty. He then highlights that they specially imported the leather for this sedan and that each and every panel was professionally taken out of the car and wrapped with perfection.

In the video, it can be noted that all the electronics were carefully removed and then reinstalled after the black suede and Nappa leather wrapping. Additionally, the steering wheel of this sedan was swapped for the one offered with the W223 Maybach. The owner also highlighted that they have upgraded the infotainment screen of this sedan as well.

Does it make sense to do such a conversion?

A lot of people who own these high-end luxury cars are now opting for such conversions. The main reason behind it is that the pricing of new cars has skyrocketed, and these 10–12-year-old cars are still reliable and working. So instead of selling them for a fraction of their original cost, owners are now opting for such conversions.
