Driving a car at high speed is dangerous, especially in India. The reason we say this is because it is extremely hard to predict what might come in front of your vehicle. Additionally, many village roads are narrow, and driving rashly on such roads can easily make you lose control of the vehicle. Here, we have one such video from Punjab, where a new Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV, worth crores, lost control and fell into a paddy field.

The videos and images have been shared by Gurkirat Jhinjer and Rich Torque on their Instagram pages. In the first post, we see a white-colored Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV lying on its side in a paddy field. The SUV looks damaged from the front. The bonnet, driver-side headlamp, fender, ORVMs, rear windshield, tail lights, and bumper all appear damaged.

The exact cause of this accident is unknown, but from the comments, it looks like the car was being driven recklessly, and the driver lost control. We are not sure if the SUV crashed into another obstacle or simply fell into the field sideways. Whatever the reason, it is a sad sight, and anyone who loves cars can feel the pain.

If you look at the images carefully, the SUV doesn’t have a proper registration number, which means it was brand new. The comments mention that the accident happened after they got the number, but it seems like the number plate was not fixed at the time of the accident.

In the next video, we see that the owner of the Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV got the vehicle repaired, and we are pretty sure it was an expensive affair. We are not sure if he got the vehicle fixed under insurance or paid for the repairs himself. The owner posted a video and, replying to one of the comments, mentioned that they spent Rs 63 lakh to get the car fixed.

If he had to spend the money out of pocket and the claim of spending Rs 63 lakh on repairs is true, then this is probably one of the most expensive GLS models in the country. The owner actually spent half the price of the car on just repairs. We hope that he has learned his lesson and won’t be repeating the same mistake in the future.

The price of a brand-new GLS SUV starts at Rs 1.34 crore and goes up to Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom). The SUV seen here is the facelifted GLS, which was launched last year. The Mercedes-Benz GLS is one of the biggest SUVs available in the Indian market, measuring 5.2 meters in length and 1.96 meters in width.

The GLS is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version, the GLS 450, uses a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine that generates 381 PS and 500 Nm of peak torque.

The diesel version, the GLS 450d, also uses a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine, producing 367 PS and 700 Nm of peak torque. Both versions come with a 9-speed automatic transmission as standard. Additionally, both variants feature a mild hybrid system that provides a 20 PS boost and 200 Nm of additional torque on demand.
