MS Dhoni Spotted Driving His Citroen Basalt [Video]

French car manufacturer Citroën has been trying its luck in the Indian market for the last couple of years. They currently have several ICE and EV models in their lineup. It was only this year that they launched the Dark Edition versions of their C3, Aircross, and Basalt in the market. Just before that, they had also roped in former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the brand ambassador. Dhoni was present at the launch of the Dark Edition versions, and he was also the first customer in the country for the Basalt Dark Edition. We have now come across a video where Dhoni is seen driving the same Dark Edition SUV.

The video has been shared on various social media platforms. In this video, we see a black-coloured Citroën Basalt Coupé SUV come out of MS Dhoni’s mansion in Ranchi. As expected, it was Dhoni himself behind the steering wheel of the SUV. The SUV slowly crawls to the main road and joins the highway.

While all this was happening, the person recording the video was following the car. Dhoni was not seen entertaining the person and was instead checking the traffic before joining the road. The car seen here is the Basalt Dark Edition. It is the latest offering from the French car manufacturer.

The Basalt Dark Edition was launched in the market at a starting price of ₹12.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Dhoni is probably driving the top-end turbo AT version, which costs around ₹14.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

In terms of design and styling, everything remains the same. Citroën has completely blacked out the exterior of the SUV. The Dark Edition gets an all-black Perla Nera exterior paint. This is actually an exclusive shade for this edition. We can see dark chrome elements on the Citroën badge and the grille.

Apart from this, you get a gloss black finish on the bumper and door handles. The alloy wheel design and shade of the car remain the same as standard. Coming to the interior, the Basalt gets an all-black treatment to go with the theme. Citroën is also offering red stitching and accents in places. For a premium appeal, Citroën is offering leatherette upholstery. There are gloss black elements in the cabin too, which make it look slightly more premium than before.

Coming to the engine, the Basalt Dark Edition uses the same 1.2-litre NA and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engines. The NA petrol engine is offered in the lower variants and generates 80 bhp and 115 Nm of peak torque. The turbocharged version generates 109 bhp and 205 Nm of peak torque. It is available with both manual and automatic transmission options.
