A late-night incident on Cadbury Bridge Flyover in Thane resulted in a chain of crashes involving a Tata Punch, a Tata dumper truck, a trailer and a Tempo. The Punch was destroyed completely. The horrifying crash, which occurred around midnight on Sunday, left six people injured but, fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

According to preliminary reports, the chain of crashes began when the trailer did a sudden braking on the incline of the Cadbury bridge. The driver of the Punch that was just behind it, slammed the brakes hard. But, the micro SUV could not stop in time and ended up being wedged under the trailer.

Before any of its occupants could escape, the tempo that was following the Punch rammed into it. Moments later, a Tata dumper truck hit the tempo from behind. The pileup looked scary.

The Punch got crushed between these vehicles, and its occupants were trapped inside. It had a family in it- Rahul Jawale who was driving it, his wife Swati Jawale, and their two children. All of them suffered minor injuries but remained safe. They are reported to have suffered leg and hand fractures. Two of the Tempo's occupants- Priyanka Vijay Bagul and Shaurya Vijay Bagul were also injured.

Rescue Operations and Traffic Disruptions

Emergency response teams, including the fire brigade, disaster management personnel, and traffic police, soon rushed to the scene. Rescuers used hydraulic equipment to get the trapped family out of the wreckage.

They, along with the other injured victims, were soon transferred to the Bethany Hospital for medical treatment. Four of them were discharged after first aid, while two required further medical attention for fractures and other injuries.

The accident caused major traffic disruptions on the Eastern Express Highway, near the crash site. Vehicles were diverted to the service road, causing congestion. Getting the vehicles, wreckage and debris moved from the crash site and restoring regular traffic flow took almost an hour. The driver of the dumper truck fled the scene soon after the collision.

Tata Punch's Impeccable Safety Standards

A quick look at the micro-SUV's wreckage will make it hard for anyone to believe that the occupants made it out alive. It seems completely rampaged.

The safety standards offered by the Punch are thus incredible. It has a strong build and comes packed with safety features like Corner Stability Control (CSC), dual airbags, ISOFIX mounts, hill hold control, Traction Control (ESP), reverse parking camera, ABS, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers.

Another Recent Crash On Kalyan-Pune Link Road

In a separate but equally alarming incident, a brake failure in a cement mixer truck caused a multi-vehicle collision on the Kalyan-Pune Link Road near Vijay Nagar Road.

According to police reports, the accident was triggered when the out-of-control cement mixer truck rammed into another cement mixer. It triggered a chain crash involving a tempo and three auto rickshaws, in addition to the mixers.

Emergency responders from the Regional Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation rushed to the scene. Yasin Tadvi, the chief of the cell, said: "Our team worked quickly to rescue the trapped occupants and safely transport them to a hospital. In total, six people were admitted for medical treatment. Four were discharged after receiving first aid, while two individuals, who suffered fractures, remain under treatment," This incident caused serious traffic congestions as well.
