Passenger Forgets Specs, Mumbai Auto Driver Charges Him Rs. 90K For 13 Kms: Arrested!

There are a lot of good people in this world; however, we should never ever forget that there are a lot of cunning and bad people as well. Today, not everyone can be trusted, but sometimes people trust strangers, thinking that for humanity’s sake they'll help them. But sometimes, these people end up scamming the good people. Recently, one such man from Haryana, staying in Mumbai, was duped of Rs 90,518 by an auto rickshaw driver because he lost his spectacles.
According to the reports, last month on April 10, a 30-year-old man who hails from Haryana and is currently staying in Bandra, Mumbai, was duped of Rs 90,518. What actually happened was that this young man went to a restaurant in Andheri with his friends. However, while returning, he forgot his spectacles at the restaurant.
Unfortunately, this particular man had a vision problem where he could not see things that were near without his glasses. So, after finishing off the dinner, the man left the restaurant to reach his home in Bandra at around 5:45 AM. He called an autorickshaw to take him home, and during this, the man was having problems as he could not read the things on his phone clearly.
However, despite this issue, he sat in the autorickshaw and then went with the driver. He then noticed that it was taking longer than usual for him to reach his home. As a result of this, he started an argument with the auto rickshaw driver. Following this, when he reached his home in Bandra, the auto driver demanded the man to pay Rs 1,500 after refusing to go by the meter reading.
Hearing this demand, the young man offered the auto rickshaw driver Rs 500. However, after arguing for a while, the young man finally agreed to pay Rs 1,500 to the driver. Now, at this point, the owner thought that he could trust the auto driver and gave him his smartphone after unlocking it. He stated that he could not use the phone without his spectacles.
The young man asked the auto driver to open the Google Pay application and take Rs 1,500. Following this, the auto driver took the phone and entered the security pin, which was told by the young man, and completed the transaction. Following this, he then immediately left the spot. The next day, when the young man opened his phone and checked his balance, he found out that the auto driver, instead of taking Rs 1,500, had duped him of Rs 90,518.
Soon after the young man realised his mistake, he notified his bank that he had been duped by this auto driver. The bank then looked into the transaction and reported that the money from the young man's account was transferred to a man named Mohammed Furkan Shaikh. The bank also highlighted that Rs 90,518 was then dispersed into 3–4 other accounts from Shaikh’s account.
Following this, it has been reported that the young man, after this incident, went to Chandigarh for some work. However, after returning on May 22, he then went to Bandra police station and filed an FIR against Mohammed Furkan Shaikh. Currently, the police authorities have collected the bank details into which the money was transferred.
They have also started tracking CCTV footage, and identification of the auto driver is currently underway. Most likely, the man will be caught soon by the police authorities.
