Traffic fine saved life

The complete incident of how a couple’s lives were saved by a traffic police officer stopping them for not wearing seatbelts has been shared on X. It comes courtesy of Mumbai Traffic Police. According to the post, it all happened on July 26 at around 4 PM. At the time, it was raining very heavily in Mumbai. As per the post, Police Constable Pravin Kshirsagar stopped a couple travelling in a car.

This stop took place at Kalanagar, Bandra, near BKC, a high-traffic-centric zone. Kshirsagar stopped the car of Gautam Vijay Rohra, a senior executive at a private company, who was travelling with his wife, Chhaya Rohra, also a senior executive in a private company. This vehicle was stopped by the constable as the lady was not wearing her seatbelt.

The husband, in his statement, revealed that the police constable told them to pull their car to the side. Following which he said, “Your wife hasn't fastened her seatbelt. The fine is Rs 1,000, but that's not what matters. In the event of an accident, a seatbelt can save lives. Please don't proceed without wearing it.” The couple then thanked the constable and drove ahead.

Soon after this, what happened was that the car of the couple was descending the Andheri flyover. However, during this time, rain was continuously pouring down, and the roads had become very wet and slippery. Due to this, the husband lost control of the vehicle, and it then hit a divider. Also, the vehicle even flipped over twice.

Thankfully, despite the vehicle sustaining significant damage, the husband only suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, the wife, who was just told to wear the seatbelt, was miraculously completely unharmed. It was reported that she did not bear a single scratch. Even the doctors were stunned that she walked away completely unhurt.

Soon after this crash happened, more policemen arrived at the location, and they assisted the couple and took them to the nearest hospital. They also ensured that the valuables in their car were not stolen. The couple thanked each and everyone, and a picture of the couple with the police constable, Kshirsagar, was also shared.

In his statement, Gautam Vijay Rohra stated, “Traffic Police don't stop us just to issue fines; they genuinely care about our safety. So let's not get angry when they point out our mistakes. Government rules are made to keep us safe. Please follow them, and they can save your life. In every crisis, true humanity is revealed; those who help selflessly are the real angels among us.”

He continued by stating, “I am truly grateful to that police officer and for this second chance at life. A little caution saved our home, and that is the greatest blessing. Today I am once again reminded there is still humanity in this world.”
