Husband Gifts Wife A Volkswagen Golf GTI For Anniversary (Video)

Wealthy and successful businessmen often celebrate their special days by gifting expensive cars to their loved ones. The video of one such case has now surfaced online. It shows AK Shaji, the Chairman and Managing Director of MyG, a premier smartphone retail network headquartered in Kerala’s Calicut, gifting a brand-new Volkswagen Golf GTI to his beloved wife on their wedding anniversary.
The video starts by showing the family walking out of their home, with the car parked outside, covered by a classy white veil. It even has a Volkswagen logo on it. Shaji walks out with his wife and towards the car. Together, they unveil the car. A Volkswagen Golf GTI finished in Red is revealed. The wife then receives the keys from the dealer staff. The family then celebrates the occasion by cutting a cake and sharing it between themselves.
Later, we see the wife opening the hatchback’s door and checking out the cabin. She then starts the car by pressing the engine start/ stop button. The soundtrack from the exhaust seems to excite her. She is seen driving around in the GTI.
The MyG founder shared a heartfelt note along with the video. It said ‘From the day we met to every mile ahead, you’ve been my greatest blessing Happy Anniversary, Haju — this gift is just a small token for the endless love you’ve given me. Here’s to forever, together.’
This husband has indeed ticked the right boxes by gifting his wife a Golf GTI. This performance hatchback has an ex-showroom price of Rs 53 lakh as it is brought in via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route. The first batch got sold out in no time. There is thus a degree of exclusivity to this gift.
What you see here is the 8.5 generation of the Golf GTI. This means the facelifted eighth generation. The five-door performance hatchback comes with a sporty design and spans 4.3 meters in overall length. It has a hunkered-down design and rides on 18-inch wheels. There is even a roof-mounted spoiler and dual exhausts.
The cabin gets a sporty, practical and good-looking design. The seats feature Tartan upholstery with Red contrast stitching. There are GTI badges as well. The steering wheel and paddle shifters are wrapped in premium quality leather as well.
The feature list consists of a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 7-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push button start/stop, a stubby gear selector, multiple driving modes, Head Up Display (HUD), a wireless charger, three-zone climate control, 30-colour ambient lighting, single-pane sunroof and ventilated seats.
The safety suite comes with the likes of seven airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking camera, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking assist, front and rear parking sensors and even an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite.
Under the hood of the Golf GTI is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that makes 265 PS and 370 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG. This powertrain makes the car sprint to 100 kph from a standstill in just 5.9 seconds. The GTI can do speeds of up to 250 kph, and comes with a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout.
To further improve its dynamics, Volkswagen has given the Golf GTI progressive steering, electronically controlled front-axle differential lock, and Dynamic Chassis Control (DSC) as well. EVen the platform has been engineered carefully, to support peak performance. It strikes a balance between the ride quality and dynamics.
