Nagaland Police Becomes India's First Police Force To Add Mahindra Thar Roxx SUV To Fleet [Video]

Mahindra is one of the leading SUV manufacturers in the country. Last year, they launched the all-new Thar Roxx which, just like the 3-door version, saw the 5-door version of the SUV become a hit almost immediately.
The main reason for the Mahindra Thar Roxx’s success was its practicality. The five-door design actually made it a great option for those who are looking for a rugged yet practical-looking SUV. It looks like the Nagaland Police also liked the Thar Roxx so much that they decided to add one to their official fleet.
The video has been shared by Engage 4x4 India on their Instagram page. In this video, we see a white-coloured Mahindra Thar Roxx SUV parked outside a ground. The exact location of the vehicle is not known, but the video claims that this new Thar Roxx has actually been inducted into the Nagaland Police’s fleet.
The SUV is finished in a white shade and comes with several customisations that make it different from the regular Roxx. The SUV actually gets two blue stripes that run the length of the vehicle. The gap between the stickers is filled with a "Police" sticker in a red shade.LED strobe lights are mounted on the roof, and the car gets Police stickering on the front windshield as well.
Apart from this, the SUV looks stock. It looked like the SUV was parked outside an open cricket ground. The SUV seen here looks like a higher variant specifically, the 4x4 version. Usually, police forces do not opt for higher variants.
They usually go for the mid or base variants as these are official vehicles and do not require too many features. We cannot rule out the possibility that the SUV seen here is actually part of someone’s personal security. We have seen several rich businessmen do such things in the past.
One of the best examples is Ambani’s security fleet. The family members are always surrounded by security cars when they hit the road. Most of the security vehicles are actually expensive ones. In fact, they have G63 AMGs and Range Rovers as part of their security convoy.
These cars are not bought by the government, as that would be considered a waste of funds. Instead, the Ambanis have bought these vehicles and have offered them to be used by the security personnel while they are on convoy duty.
Most state police departments use Mahindra Bolero, Innova, or Tata Sumo in some regions. However, these cars can’t keep up with most modern cars and are not very fast either. By using these premium vehicles, the personnel can ensure the safety of the party.
We feel the Mahindra Thar Roxx seen here is being used as a personal security vehicle by some rich businessman or politician in the region. The Thar Roxx is actually a great vehicle for this purpose as it offers both practicality and power. It is a modern-day SUV that can perform well both on-road and off-road.
The petrol version uses a 2.0-litre mStallion engine, and the diesel version uses a 2.2-litre mHawk engine. Only the diesel version gets the 4x4 feature in some variants as an option. The SUV also comes with manual and automatic transmissions in both petrol and diesel engine options.
