New-Gen Hindustan Ambassador Modified To Look Like 1957 ‘Mark 1’ Model [Video]

The Hindustan Ambassador is a name that almost everyone who loves cars would recognize. It was one of the first Indian brands to manufacture a car for India. It played a crucial role in Indian automotive history, and we know that it was part of the convoy of several politicians, government officers, and leaders for decades. Although production of this sedan was officially stopped in 2014, there are still several well-maintained examples of the Ambassador available in different parts of the country. Here we have one such video where a 2006 model Ambassador Nova has been modified to look like the Mark 1.
The video has been shared by Kam Customs on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see one of the recent projects by the Mangalore-based workshop KAM Customs. It features a Mark 1 Ambassador sedan. At a time when we see people modifying their old cars to make them look modern, the customer thought differently.
They, in fact, converted the 2006 model Ambassador Nova sedan into a 1957 model Mark 1 sedan. The workshop has done several customizations to the car to achieve this look. We’ll start with the exteriors first.
The stock grille at the front has been replaced with a Mark 1-type unit. Along with the grille, the front bumper has also been modified. It now features Mark 1-type chrome bumpers, which give a retro look to the car.
The headlamps are round in shape and have the signature chrome ring around them. The Ambassador badge and the moniker can be seen on the bonnet as well. We are not sure if the car was originally finished in black or if the customer repainted it in black for better appeal. Just like the retro Ambassadors, we see a black-colored sunshade or sun visor installed on the front windscreen.
The car retains its original steel rims with chrome-plated hubcaps, and they go well with the retro look of the car. The rear features original tail lamps and chrome bumpers with badges for a classic look. The bonnet and the boot have hydraulic struts, which make them easier to open and close. The suspension setup on this car has also been upgraded. This Ambassador now has an ARC aftermarket suspension kit with leaf springs.
The interior of this sedan is the exact opposite of the exterior. It has a modern design. The dashboard, seats, door pads, and roof liners have all been redone. The seats are now wrapped in black custom leatherette upholstery.
The steering wheel is from a later-generation Ambassador. The instrument cluster and all other meters are spread across the dashboard, which also features leather wrapping. The outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) are now electrically adjustable and foldable, and there are ambient lights installed in the cabin. The car also gets a custom-made power window setup and more.
It also has an aftermarket touchscreen unit. There is storage space under the armrest, and the rear bench seats have been replaced with individual captain seats. The speaker system and roof liner have also been upgraded. The car looks clean with all these customizations in place. The retro look on the outside and the modern look on the inside go well with the car.
