Imagine your brand-new Rs 25 lakh Mahindra Scorpio-N catches fire just after driving for 40 km. You'll be devastated, right? Well, most likely anyone would get disheartened. Unfortunately, this is exactly what recently happened with a female Mahindra Scorpio-N owner whose SUV stopped on a national highway just after driving for 40 km. As a result of this incident, the owner is now asking for a refund from the dealership. She has also asked that the dealership should replace her car.

Mahindra Scorpio-N breaks down after 142 km

This video showing the Mahindra Scorpio-N catching fire just after driving 40 km has been shared on YouTube by Prateek Singh on their channel. In this video, the creator mentions that one of his viewers recently contacted him and told him the complete story of what happened. He states that the owner is a female named Aayushi, and she recently bought a Mahindra Scorpio-N from a Mahindra dealership in Shimla.

She then added that the vehicle was delivered to her with 100 km already on the odometer, which was racked up while bringing her vehicle from another part of Himachal Pradesh to Shimla. Following this, the woman and her family only drove for around 41–42 km in their new vehicle when it suddenly started emitting white smoke from the engine bay.

As a result of this, they stopped their SUV on the side of the highway, and the vehicle continued smoking. It was then found that the clutch plate of their vehicle had burned completely, which caused their vehicle to stop. Following this, the woman in her story highlighted that she is being offered a replacement clutch for free by the dealership.

However, she does not want this particular car and wants to get it replaced. She added that either the dealership should replace the vehicle or refund the entire amount of the vehicle. At the moment, the dealership has not agreed to any of these terms, and the vehicle is sitting without any repair.

Who is at fault in this situation?

To many, it may seem like driving a vehicle just for 42 km before its clutch gets burned out is a manufacturing defect. However, in most such cases, the entire fault is of the driver. If a person drives the vehicle for an extended period of time without fully releasing the clutch, it can cause the clutch to burn, and there is nothing that the dealership or the manufacturer can do.

So, it could be possible that the driver of this Scorpio-N is at fault because this happened in Shimla. And generally, on mountain roads where not all drivers are skilled enough, driving the vehicle without properly releasing the clutch can cause such clutch burn. Now, we are not accusing the driver or the owner of this particular Mahindra Scorpio-N of not driving it properly.

However, in this particular case, the dealership is offering the most logical solution. As per the video, the dealership is offering to replace the clutch for free as a gesture of goodwill. But the owner has mentioned that they are not feeling confident in owning this particular car. Hence, they want a refund or a replacement, which is very unlikely.

Also, the owner has stated she wants to file a legal complaint against the dealership and Mahindra Automotive. However, the video creator has suggested to her that it won't be fruitful, as it would only cost her more money, and in the end, the court would order the dealership to repair the car free of cost, which it is already offering.
