One of the worst nightmares for any automotive enthusiast is to hand over the keys of their supercar worth crores to a valet, only for the valet to crash it. We understand that it would be a soul-crushing experience, and it doesn’t happen every day. However, this particular Nissan GTR owner had to live through this dreadful experience in Bengaluru. Recently, a video was shared online in which a Rs 2.5 crore Nissan GTR supercar was crashed by a valet into the rear of a BMW 5 Series luxury sedan.

Nissan GTR Crashed by Careless Valet

The video showing this careless valet crashing a Nissan GTR supercar while parking it has been shared on Instagram by Shahid Afridina on their page. In this short clip, we can see a valet parking a baby blue-colored Nissan GTR supercar. He was reversing the vehicle into a parking spot at Smoor, Bangalore, which is a luxury chocolate brand and café.

It can be seen that the Nissan GTR at first comes extremely close to a BMW 5 Series luxury sedan while being reversed. However, after putting the supercar in the parking spot, the valet puts the vehicle in drive and starts driving ahead. Unfortunately, this time, the vehicle crashes into the rear right portion of the BMW 5 Series sedan.

What Went Wrong?

The first and most important issue is that the parking spot was extremely narrow. As the Nissan GTR is a very wide supercar, the valet could not gauge the gap between the BMW and the supercar while reversing it. Speaking of the BMW 5 Series in the video, this particular vehicle was wrongly parked on the road and should not have been there.

This particular road, on which this outlet of Smoor, Bangalore, is located, always has parking issues, and it is illegal to park vehicles on this road. However, despite knowing this, the valet driver still reversed the vehicle into such a tight spot.

Can the Owner Sue the Valet or the Café?

As per the comments on the post showing this Nissan GTR being crashed into a BMW 5 Series, it has been mentioned that the owner of the Rs 2.5 crore supercar is planning to sue Smoor and the valet. Reportedly, he wants to sue them for careless parking and causing damage to the front bumper of his vehicle.

Now, although he can technically sue both of them, there are a number of things to consider. The most important one is that most valet companies and organizations, when they hand over the tags for the vehicle while parking, mention that owners are parking at their own risk. So, in this case, suing the organization may not yield any fruitful results.

What Can the Owner Do?

The only practical solution to this issue is for the owner to claim the cost of damages through insurance. If the owner of this vehicle has comprehensive insurance, they can claim that the damage was caused by the valet and get the vehicle repaired without spending out of pocket.

Supercars Should Never Be Given to Valets

A general rule of thumb is that supercar owners driving these high-end cars worth crores should not let inexperienced valets park them, as doing so is a recipe for disaster. Most valet drivers are low-paid employees who lack experience driving and maneuvering such high-end vehicles.

Additionally, these vehicles are very powerful, and valet drivers often cannot control them. So, it is best if the owner parks their vehicle themselves. Furthermore, as mentioned, supercars like this Nissan GTR are very long, wide, and have extremely low ground clearance.

When these aspects are combined with poor visibility from the cabin due to smaller windows, bigger blind spots, and deep dashboards, valet drivers generally cannot gauge the distance between the supercar and its surroundings. In simple terms, it is a very unwise decision for owners of such expensive vehicles to let valet drivers park them.

Not the First Such Incident

This is not the first time a valet driver has crashed a rare supercar worth crores. A while ago, a video went viral on the internet where a valet from Le Meridien hotel crashed a rare Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.

In that particular incident, it was noted that the valet driver accidentally accelerated the vehicle, causing it to crash into a Toyota Corolla sedan and then into a pillar of the hotel. The result of the crash was that the entire front end of the supercar was destroyed.
