In the last couple of days, we have been getting reports about heavy rains in the Delhi-NCR region. As usual, the rainfall news was followed by reports of waterlogging and traffic congestion. Here, we have a couple of videos that show a basement parking area at a high-rise building in Noida filled with water after the rains.

The video was shared on WhatsApp and is claimed to be from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida Extension area. The video is said to be from Supertech Eco Village 1. In the first video, we see several vehicles like a Maruti Swift, Ford EcoSport, and a Royal Enfield bike parked in the basement of the society.

Most high-rise buildings have parking in this manner, as it is an efficient way to park vehicles without actually requiring a lot of space. This also means you can park the vehicle in the shade, which is why many people prefer this.

Coming to this case, the incident happened after the city experienced heavy rainfall. We found another video where the page that posted it was raising questions about the drainage system in the same society. It is clear from the video that the basement parking was flooded. Water had easily entered the cabins of the vehicles that were parked on the lower side of the parking area.

If you look at the video that was shared with us on WhatsApp, you can see that the water level was up to the bonnets of some cars. The dirt and mud from the drain water would have easily entered the vehicles and engines, and it is actually a sad sight to watch.

While one of the videos claims that the basement flooded because of a blocked drain, we feel there is more to it than that. The location of Supertech Eco Village 1 is very crucial. This is not the first time we have come across a report like this from the region.

Supertech Eco Village 1 is not very close to the Hindon River, but it is situated on the plains next to the river. Like many other areas along the Hindon River, the apartment is located in a low-lying region, making it susceptible to flooding when the river's water level rises.

This is just an assumption, as such incidents have been reported from the region in the past. As for the owners, we would strongly request people not to attempt to start their vehicles that were submerged in water after the water levels have come down.

It is during such situations that one should opt for add-ons like complete engine protection and, for electric cars, battery protection. This way, you can actually save yourself from a huge loss.

The engines in most modern cars get hydrolocked when moisture or water enters them. To fix this issue, you will have to take the vehicle to a service center on a flatbed, and it is a time- and money-consuming process. Having an engine damage cover will save you from such expenses. Also, if you are driving on the road during rains, try to avoid sections where it is waterlogged.
