A lot of people have to pay extra to get private parking in their residential buildings and other spaces across the city. And most of the time, these spaces are left empty. However, what if we tell you that now you can rent out your empty parking spot just like Airbnb? You'd be interested, right? Well, recently a Kolkata-based start-up has found a clever way to rent out your parking spot to other vehicle owners using an application and their proprietary device.

Clever solution that turns empty parking into an Airbnb for parking

This video, in which one of the founders of the start-up explains how their solution turns empty private parking spots into a source of income, has been shared on Instagram by Indian Start-up News on their page. The name of this start-up is Parkobot, and it is based out of Kolkata, West Bengal. In this video, one of the founders demonstrates how their solution works.

He first shows the Parkobot hardware installed on a private parking spot, following which he explains that owners of private parking spots can use this device to prevent any misuse of their parking spot. After that, he starts the demo of their product. For this, he first mentions that they are in the passport office area in Calcutta and all the prime parking spots have been taken up.

So, he then starts showing the solution offered by Parkobot. He first opens the Parkobot application on his smartphone, where he is shown all the available parking spots in the nearby area. After that, he mentions that there is a nearby building which has a large parking spot open, which will cost Rs 9.99 per hour.

He then mentions that the pricing on the application is dynamic and that users can reserve the space from the application. After this, he shows that the application provides the location of the parking space, and the directions to it are shown on the map. Upon reaching the spot, he connects to the Parkobot device using his smartphone.

Finally, the device flips down the barrier, which makes space for the vehicle to be parked. This particular solution has been designed for the owners of private parking spots across any city to rent out their spots while they are not using them. This device also helps in avoiding the usage of such spots by strangers.

The Parkobot device is a smart parking barrier that secures a private parking space and is controlled via the Parkobot app. Other application users who are in a busy part of town where they need a parking spot can search for spaces in the app, pre-book parking, and control the Parkobot barrier.
