Indian Cops Driving On Wrong Side Cause Two Crashes: Dashcam Video

If you have ever driven on Indian roads, you know by now that you must be extremely careful. There is always some element of surprise that you might not find anywhere else. It could be in the form of stray cattle, dogs, vehicles coming from the wrong side, or even pedestrians. If you wonder why cops are not taking action against offenders, here is a video that might provide an answer. In this footage, we see the cops themselves breaking the law by driving on the wrong side of the road.
The video has been shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. In this video, we see three incidents from different parts of the country. In all three incidents, the law enforcement officers are at fault. Thankfully, all these incidents were captured on the dashcam of the vehicles.
The first incident is from Madhya Pradesh. The dashcam car owner, along with his family, was traveling on a highway in Madhya Pradesh. It appears that the car was passing through a section where roadwork was in progress. The driver overtakes a couple of heavy vehicles in front and then continues driving within the speed limits.
This was a four-lane highway, and we see a bus pulling to the left side of the road and coming to a stop. As it moved off the road, loose dust particles started flying, reducing visibility for a few seconds. The dashcam car was passing through the cloud of dust, and just as it crossed the bus, the driver spotted a Mahindra Bolero coming towards their vehicle from the wrong direction. The driver suddenly applied the brakes and swerved to the right side of the road.
The Mahindra Bolero, coming from the wrong side, belonged to the cops and had no registration number. The officers were driving recklessly, and it was only because of the dashcam car driver's presence of mind that a crash was avoided. While they didn’t hit the Bolero, the car moved off the road and hit the bushes on the median.
The second incident, captured in the video, is from Telangana. The dashcam car owner was driving up a ramp to join the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway. There were many vehicles in front of the dashcam car, all slowly climbing the ramp. As the vehicles were moving at a slow pace, the dashcam car owner was also maintaining the speed limit. Suddenly, a scooter appeared in front of his car. The scooter was coming from the wrong side of the ramp, and the car driver had no choice but to apply the brakes.
The person riding the scooter was actually a traffic police officer who was not wearing a proper helmet. Instead, he was wearing the usual plastic helmet that traffic police officers wear while on duty. When the dashcam car applied the brakes, a Toyota Fortuner behind it couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the dashcam car. The video even mentions that the expressway from which the cop was coming does not allow two-wheelers. The officer was riding carelessly on the wrong side, which ultimately caused the accident.
The car owner, the cops, and the driver of the Fortuner got out, and the video mentions that the cop was not ready to accept his fault. Instead, he kept blaming the dashcam car driver. In both cases, the careless driving behavior of the cops led to the crashes. The very people responsible for ensuring that everyone follows traffic rules were breaking them themselves.
Driving on the wrong side is dangerous and can easily cause accidents like the ones seen in the video. The cops were not only putting their own lives at risk but also endangering the lives of other road users. Hopefully, the concerned authorities come across these videos and take the necessary action against them.
