If you have been in India, you would have witnessed the movement of politicians in their vehicles at least once. Most of them travel in a convoy, which includes the politician’s vehicle along with their security personnel and more. While this is done to protect the politician from any kind of attack, it often creates inconvenience for the common man.

Whenever a politician’s convoy passes through an area, the local police are forced to stop traffic to ensure smooth movement. However, this often creates issues for the general public. They are forced to wait on the road, wasting their precious time and fuel.

Here we have one such video from Hyderabad, where traffic was blocked by the cops during peak hours. This was done so that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy could easily pass through the area. The public was so frustrated that they decided to protest by honking when the convoy passed.

The video was shared by Team Road Squad on their X profile. In the video, we see Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his convoy moving through city roads while the cops had blocked traffic.

It appears that the traffic was stopped during peak office hours, and people were not happy about it. We are not sure if the public had to wait for a very long time, but if they did, that would have made them extremely restless.

By the time the convoy passed, people were clearly frustrated and began blowing their horns at the convoy. This was done as a form of protest against the traffic block. The video has been posted on social media, where the team is seen trying to justify the traffic block.

The video was shared with the caption: “Honking at police and the Chief Minister because they had to wait for the convoy to pass. Stopping the escort vehicles and causing obstruction. Chief Minister is VVIP and his safety is one of the most important things. Will honking solve the issue?”

While we understand that honking is not going to resolve the issue, every citizen in the country has the right to protest, and this falls under the Fundamental Rights - Article 19(1)(a) (freedom of speech and expression) and Article 19(1)(b) (freedom to assemble peacefully and without arms).

In this case, the people were unhappy that the minister was given priority over them, as everyone was forced to waste their precious time waiting. The comment section under this video is filled with reactions like: “Honking is the only practical way people can oppose VVIP blockades. Why do they need 20-car convoys to go anywhere? Is India so unsafe?”

“Doing the right thing - VVIP culture should always be stopped.” “Around 15 vehicles and each has a 7-seater capacity - so do 105 people travel along with the CM? Why this show-off and waste of public money? Citizens are frustrated with the VIP culture, which is of no use - just a waste of taxpayers' money.”

While convoy movements often create issues for the general public, moving forward without stopping can create even more problems. This would be a violation of protocol, and once again, the common man would have to pay the price. Cops can actually seize your vehicle and book you for creating obstruction in the duty of a public servant, causing danger on public roads, and under several other sections.
