Bengaluru Barber Who Owns A Rolls Royce Buys 3 New Mercedes Benz E-Class Sedans

Everyone loves a rags-to-riches story, and one of the most intriguing ones from India is that of Ramesh Babu. Many know him as the barber who bought a Rolls-Royce luxury sedan. The super popular barber from Bengaluru recently added not one, not two, but a total of three brand-new Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans to his already impressive fleet of luxury cars. Babu, who started as a humble barber, currently runs a massive car rental business, Ramesh Tours and Travels.
The picture showing Ramesh Babu’s recent delivery of three identical Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB 220d sedans has been shared on Instagram. It comes courtesy of Sundaram Motors, Bangalore. In these pictures, Ramesh Babu, along with his wife, was seen taking delivery of three new E-Class sedans.
All three of these are finished in a sleek High-Tech Silver Metallic color. Additionally, all of them have been opted with black leather interior upholstery. Ramesh Babu has chosen the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB 220d, a long-wheelbase version that offers more legroom and comfort for rear passengers.
It is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine. This variant generates 192 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and comes in a rear-wheel-drive configuration. The ex-showroom price for each of these sedans stands at Rs 72.8 lakh.
As we have told his story many times before, Ramesh Babu’s rise to success is a true rags-to-riches story. Ramesh was born into a humble family, where his father passed away when he was young, leaving his family in financial distress.
To support his family, Babu took over his father’s barber shop in Bengaluru. However, it was his clever decision to invest in a Maruti Suzuki Omni van in the early 1990s that changed the course of his life. He initially purchased the van for personal use.
However, he later decided to rent it out, realizing that it could generate a steady source of income. By 2004, Babu’s car rental business, Ramesh Tours and Travels, had begun to take off. His unique offering of premium cars for rental attracted celebrities and high-profile clients.
This helped him expand his fleet. Over the years, what started with a single Omni van soon grew into a massive collection of over 200 cars. The list of cars in his fleet includes some of the most luxurious vehicles in the world, with the main highlight being his Rolls-Royce Ghost.
Recently, Ramesh Babu also added a Land Rover Defender 130 to his fleet, making it the first Defender to be used as a commercial taxi. This off-road luxury SUV was spotted on highways, with pictures and videos of it shared across social media platforms.
The Defender 130 chosen by Ramesh Babu is finished in a dual-tone shade of Fuji White with a contrasting black roof. This particular SUV has also been given a yellow VIP registration number, “0006.”
The SUV is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine (D300), generating 296 bhp and 600 Nm of torque. It also offers a four-wheel-drive system. This SUV is available for rent through Ramesh Tours and Travels at a rate of Rs 3,000 per hour.
As mentioned, the crown jewel of Ramesh Babu’s luxury car fleet is his Rolls-Royce Ghost. He bought this sedan back in 2011 for Rs 3 crore. It is a Ghost Series I model, powered by a 6.6-liter V12 twin-turbocharged engine.
This engine delivers 562 bhp and 780 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The humble barber offers it for rent at Rs 6,000 per hour. Another important car in his fleet is the Mercedes-Maybach S600. Babu purchased this luxury sedan for Rs 2.7 crore.
The Maybach S600 is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 530 bhp and 830 Nm of torque. It comes loaded with features such as massaging and ventilated seats, a refrigerator for wine bottles, and rear infotainment screens.
Apart from the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Maybach, Ramesh Babu’s collection includes a variety of other luxury vehicles. His fleet boasts models such as the BMW 7-Series, Mercedes S-Class, BMW 5-Series, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Volvo XC90. Notable additions to his fleet also include the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen (G350d), available for Rs 5,000 per hour.
The company also offers the all-new Toyota Vellfire luxury MPV, which can be rented for Rs 3,000 per hour. Additionally, Ramesh Babu offers the BMW i7 and Mercedes EQS electric sedans as part of his growing collection. Ramesh Tours and Travels also has a Toyota Land Cruiser LX200.
