Billionaire Businessman Politician Rajeev Chandrashekhar Buys Thar ROXX, Tags Anand Mahindra On Social Post
The new Mahindra Thar ROXX has been witnessing massive acceptance in India. Many public figures, celebrities and political leaders have been adding the ROXX to their garages. The latest to join the clan is former minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Also an entrepreneur, Rajeev currently serves as the state president of BJP Kerala. He seems to have bought the ROXX in Delhi and shared a picture of him with the vehicle on social media, mentioning Anand Mahindra in a hashtag.
The photo shared on Facebook and Instagram had a caption that reads: " My new ride in Delhi - Designed and Made in India, an absolute pleasure to drive -Mahindra Thar ROXX !" The picture shows him standing near a Thar ROXX finished in Nebula Blue. The exact variant details remain unknown as we speak.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar's Career And Exotic Garage
Chandrasekhar has had successful stints both as an entrepreneur and as a politician/ parliamentarian. He was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2006. In July 2021, he was elected as the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology. He became the State President of Bharatiya Janata Party Kerala in 2025.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar is also noted for his love for classic and collectable cars and motorcycles. Over the years, he added a Ferrari Dino (the only one of its kind in India), Lamborghini Murcielago Barchetta, a Ferrari 355 F1 Spyder, an E60 BMW M5 and a Hummer H2 to his tasteful (and expensive) garage.
Mahindra Thar ROXX- A Quick Look At It
Mahindra launched the Thar ROXX in India on August 15, 2024. The 5-door Thar is currently priced in the range of 12.99- 23.09 lakh (average ex-showroom). People love the ROXX for its comfortable cabin experience, intimidating road presence and powerful and refined powertrains. There are plenty of variants on offer.
The 5-door Thar's official colour palette consists of seven shades- Everest White, Stealth Black, Nebula Blue, Battleship Gray, Deep Forest, Tango Red and Burnt Sienna. At launch, all variants of the ROXX came with just one cabin colourway- Ivory.
However, considering the popular demand, a darker, Mocha Brown cabin colourway was announced later, limited to the range-topping 4x4 variants. These vehicles started reaching their owners in March.
The ROXX is notably larger than the 3-door Thar, spanning 4428 mm in length. It has a wheelbase of 2850 mm. These translate into more room and better comfort inside.
The cabin comes equipped with features like Harman Kardon premium audio, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic headlights and wipers, electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function etc.
Mahindra has based the ROXX on the new-age M-GLYDE platform which is essentially a derivative of the Scorpio-N's proven architecture. It gets two engine options- 2.0L turbocharged petrol (mStallion) and 2.2L turbocharged diesel (mHawk).
The mStallion generates 177 PS and 380 Nm of torque. The mHawk diesel engine produces 175 PS and 370 Nm. On the lower variants, however, the powertrain output is significantly lower. Both engines can be had with automatic and manual transmissions.
2025 Update For Thar ROXX Brings More Features To The Table
In March 2025, Mahindra rolled out an update on the Thar ROXX which added more convenience features top the SUV, making it better and more value for money. The updated Thar ROXX gets keyless entry, a sliding function for the front passenger armrest, and more aerodynamic wipers for reduced noise levels.
