We all know that the British luxury SUV manufacturing brand Land Rover and Range Rovers are notorious for poor reliability. However, on a few occasions, owners have been seen getting extremely frustrated with the brand and its products. Recently, a video has gone viral online in which a Rs 2.1 crore Range Rover Sport owner highlighted that nobody should buy a Range Rover in India because he has been facing an issue for a year.

Range Rover owner protests with banners on his SUV

This video, in which the owner explains the issue with his Range Rover Sport, has been shared on Instagram by The Autoster on their page. In this short clip, a black-colored current Range Rover Sport owner takes it and parks it in front of the Land Rover Range Rover dealership in Rajkot, Gujarat.

We can note that the owner has tied two banners—one on the front and one on the right side of the vehicle. Both banners read, “Do not buy a Range Rover Sport.” It added that this particular vehicle has manufacturing issues. However, as per the owner, the company is not doing anything to help him and solve the main issue.

During the conversation, the reporter asks the owner about the details of his Range Rover Sport. To this, the owner replies that he bought this vehicle two years ago and paid Rs 2.1 crore on-road price. Following this, for the last one year, he has been facing an issue with the automatic side steps of this SUV.

He elaborated that the automatic side steps of this Range Rover, which should deploy after a door is opened and retract after the door is closed, are not working properly. The owner stated that this doorstep has not been working properly for over a year and it gets stuck halfway, as shown in the clip.

Following this, the owner highlighted that when he complained about this issue, the Rajkot Land Rover Range Rover dealership manager told him that these vehicles are not designed for India. He then added that he has left his SUV at the dealership service centre on numerous occasions, and the steps then work for a while, but the same issue persists.

Is this the right way to protest?

We all know that there are a lot of manufacturing defects with many luxury cars and SUVs from various brands. However, protesting for these issues with banners on the vehicle in front of the dealership makes no sense. From what we can understand so far, the owner does not have any other major issues with the vehicle.

So, in this case, the owner should try to resolve the problem with the dealership and get the side steps replaced. Or, if they are not offering any help, he can file a lawsuit against the company and the dealership. By protesting on the road, the owner might not receive any solution to his problem.

Over the years, we have seen numerous similar cases where people have done various types of protests. A few people have even burned their vehicles in front of dealerships after getting frustrated as well. However, once again, we would like to reiterate that owners should take the help of law to get their demands fulfilled if their issues are genuine.
