Tesla Cybertruck Spotted In India For The First Time: We Explain What's Going On

Tesla’s entry into the Indian market has been a topic of discussion for quite some time. We have come across several reports, spy pictures, and videos that hint at the American EV maker's plans for India. While everyone is waiting for the official launch of Tesla, there are people who are actually importing or bringing Tesla cars to India ahead of time. We have now come across a new set of images that show a Tesla Cybertruck in India.
The images have been shared by Tesla Club India, and in them, we see a Tesla Cybertruck being transported on a flatbed. The Cybertruck is spotted on the expressway and has reportedly reached India via Carnet. The Cybertruck seen here is from Dubai, and the owner probably decided to bring the vehicle to India for a short period.
It should be noted that Tesla currently has no plans to launch this electric truck in the Indian market. They will be introducing more affordable models and, depending on the market response, will decide whether to launch new models or not.
Tesla claims that the Cybertruck is their best product, and it has been getting a lot of attention online and on the road for its unique look and styling. Just like any American truck, the Cybertruck is huge, measuring around 5.87 metres in length. It is made from a Tesla-designed stainless steel alloy, and the exterior panels of the Cybertruck are claimed to be bulletproof against 9mm bullets.
The Cybertruck comes with a 122.4 kWh battery pack. This battery powers the electric motors that generate 600 PS. The Cybertruck is available with single, dual, and triple motor setups. The dual and triple motor setups offer AWD, while the single motor version is an RWD SUV. The triple motor variant generates a maximum of 834 PS.
We are not sure which variant is seen in the images. The dual-motor variant can do 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the triple motor variant can do the same in just 2.6 seconds.
The Tesla Cybertruck is actually being marketed as a heavy-duty pickup truck in many markets. The truck can deliver over 400 km of range on a single charge under real-world driving conditions.
For the Indian market, Tesla will be launching two entry-level models. They have already started working on their dealerships in Mumbai and Delhi, and we also saw the manufacturer posting job openings on job portals and social media platforms.
Tesla will be launching their Model 3 and Model Y in India. While these are considered the entry-level models from the American electric car manufacturer, they are not going to be affordable for the average customer in India.
Due to government policies and import duties, the Model 3 — which is a sedan — is likely to be offered starting at Rs 30.35 lakh. The Model Y crossover, based on the same platform as the Model 3, is expected to be launched at a starting price of over Rs 50 lakh.
