Bikers Attack Tourists In A Road Rage Incident: Kerala Police File Attempt-To-Murder Charges

The number of road rage incidents in India has gone up in the last 5 years. For some reason, the number of people losing their cool on the road has increased, and in most cases, the causes for these road rage incidents are often silly. Here we have one such video from Kerala’s Idukki district where a group of young boys on a bike attacked tourists traveling in a car after the car didn’t let the bike overtake.

The video has been shared by News Malayalam 24x7 on their YouTube channel. The incident has been reported from Idukki district. Nine students from Trichy were traveling to Idukki in a Maruti Ertiga when local youths on a bike tried to overtake them. The tourists were on their way to Pallivasal Waterfalls when the bikers behind the Ertiga got angry and started attacking the tourists in the car.

They attacked the tourists because the car was not giving way to the bike or letting them overtake on the narrow hilly roads of Idukki. The whole scene seems to have started from an argument over giving way, and things soon escalated.

In the video, we can see the local youths on the bike attacking the tourists in the Ertiga. The bikers not only attacked the tourists but also damaged the car. The rear windshield of the Ertiga was broken by the bikers.

The video was recorded by a woman who works at the nearby tea estate. She, along with other locals, confronted the attackers and helped the tourists. We can hear the bikers threatening the lady and asking her to stop recording the video. She refused to do so and continued recording. The video also shows that the attackers were using rocks from the side of the road to attack the tourists. This is probably the first time we have come across such an incident from Idukki.

The woman, along with other tea estate employees, confronted the attackers and rescued the tourists. Police were informed about the incident, and they took the bikers into custody. The youths who attacked the tourists have been identified, and the officers of the local station told the media that such incidents will create a wrong image about the place in tourists’ minds and that they will be taking strict action against the offenders to set an example.

The officers said that the tourists were attacked using rocks and, considering the facts and video evidence, they filed a case for attempted murder against the accused. This brings us back to the statement mentioned at the start of the story: the reasons for most road rage incidents are silly.

If the bikers had been a bit more patient, they could have avoided this situation. If you watch the video, you can see that the road is actually not very wide, and driving a car through these roads can be challenging, especially for tourists who have not been on such roads before.
