Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is known for his taste in cars. He already owns cars like the BMW M5, Range Rover HSE LWB, Mercedes S Class, Mercedes GLS, and the Lamborghini Urus SE that he bought recently. Now, Sharma has added a new electric car to his collection- a brand-new Tesla Model Y finished in what looks like Quick Silver. A video showing the cricketer with the EV has now been shared online.

It starts by showing Sharma walking towards the Model Y. He then gets into the car and buckles up. He then starts the car and slowly drives out of the parking. Like many of his other cars, Sharma’s Model Y also has 3015 as its registration number. The number plate reads ‘MH 01 FB 3015’.

The number 3015 is a nod to his kids’ birthdays- his daughter Samaira was born on December 30th, and son Ahaan on November 15th, thus 3015. Add these numbers and you get 45, Sharma’s jersey number. The cricketer’s newest Urus SE also has the same number.

More About The Tesla Model Y

Elon Musk-owned Tesla entered the Indian market in July this year. The Model Y, the first model to go on sale here, has an ex-showroom price of Rs 59.89 Lakh. It is brought in as CBU imports from China, and hence the steep pricing. The carmaker’s first experience centre has been set up at BKC, Mumbai. Deliveries of the car began in September this year.

The Model Y on sale here is the facelifted model (codenamed ‘Juniper’) that debuted globally in January this year. It gets slim LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps, a coupe-like silhouette, and more. It has a ground clearance of 167 mm.

19-inch Crossflow wheels are standard on the EV. The colour palette consists of six shades- Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, QuickSilver, Ultra Red, and Glacier Blue. The standard car comes with Stealth Grey. You will have to pay extra for choosing any other shade. The Quicksilver has a price of Rs 1.85 lakh!

Inside, the Model Y gets a clean layout and ample features. Two interior colour options are on offer- Black and White. Choosing White will add Rs 95,000 to the price. The car comes equipped with features like a panoramic glass roof, a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, an 8-inch display for rear passengers, wireless charging, premium audio, support for OTA updates, and a HEPA filter.

The Model Y comes as a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) model. It has a single electric motor that produces 299 hp and 420 Nm of torque. The standard range version features a 60.5 kWh battery pack that has a claimed range of 500 km on a single charge. The car can sprint to 100 kph from a standstill in just 5.9 seconds. The top speed is 201 kph.

The Long Range RWD version has a larger 75 kWh battery pack that claims to offer a range of 622 km. The electric motor in this case makes 340hp and 450 Nm. It can do the 0-100kph sprint in just 5.6 seconds. The top speed remains the same- 201 kph.

The Model Y is offered with All Wheel Drive (AWD) in global markets. India, however, gets just the RWD. You can also spec your India-spec Model Y with Full Self Driving (FSD) as well. This, however, will add Rs 6 lakh to the price!

Tesla Got Lukewarm Response In India

Though its market entry made much noise, Tesla's sales in India have been moderate. According to September reports, the company was able to secure just 600 orders. The disparity between price and perception likely contributed to the mediocre performance.
