When RTO Officers Had To Register A Rolls Royce Cullinan, This Happened (Video)

If you buy a new car in India, you can drive it with a temporary number plate for over a month. It is usual for RTO to check and verify the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicle at the time of issuing permanent number plates. A recent incident is now getting viral on social media in which RTO officers are seen inspecting a brand new Rolls Royce Cullinan, and verifying these details. The video shows the officials getting impressed with the Rolls Royce SUV and even clicking pictures with it.
The video starts by showing the RTO officials checking out the SUV and verifying its chassis and engine numbers. One of them is also seen to be taking pictures of the Rolls Royce on his smartphone. The person who has brought the vehicle for inspection is seen having a chat with the cops. Impressed by the SUV which costs at least 10.5 crores in India, the cops click pictures with it, which are also shown in the video.
The video description says that this is the first Cullinan Series II seen in the Ichalkaranji RTO office and that it will get MH 51 plates when registered. From the comments, we also get to know that this vehicle likely belongs to Sanjay Ghodawat Group- a huge Indian conglomerate based in Kolhapur.
People often think that the wealthy and the affluent bypass these checks. The same can be seen in the comments. Many are shooting the question ‘Is MVD checking this car also?!’ The RTO has, in fact, set a good example by proving these doubts wrong.
The luxury carmaker launched the Series II Cullinan in India in September last year. With an ex-showroom starting price of 10.5 Crores, it is an extremely expensive SUV to own. The Black Badge would cost much more. Despite its hefty price tag, the Rolls Royce SUV has found many takers and Mukesh Ambani has one of the largest collections in the country.
The Series II Cullinan comes with several notable updates. It gets slimmer headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs that extend down to the front bumper, restyled bumper and slightly tweaked front grille. The overall visual appeal has gone up. The rear now gets a new bumper, and the wheels as new as well.
On the inside, the Series II gets a full-width glass panel that runs along the dashboard, new display cabinet with a detailed analogue clock and a miniaturised, illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, a Spirit infotainment system, and a number of other features. The vehicle provides a lot of customisation options as well.
The Series II, essentially the Cullinan facelift, is powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine that produces 571hp and 850Nm. It comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Compared to its predecessor, the Cullinan Series II’s prices have gone significantly upwards. The previous Cullinan used to sell for 6.95 crore. This means the new SUV is at least 3.55 Crores more expensive. This price premium is attributed to the additional features and technology on board. A part of it is also due to the fact that the Cullinan is an ultraluxurious SUV that deserves the price it demands. The Bentley Bentayga can be cited as its closest competitor.
