Tata Safari Storme Pulls Out Stuck Toyota Fortuner And Hilux (Video)

The off-road culture is growing in many parts of our country. We often see creators build rugged off-roader SUVs and embark on trail hunts with them. They post their off-roading videos on platforms like YouTube, which often get a lot of views and engagement as well. The YouTube channel ‘Him Safari 4x4’ recently shared a video, which shows a Tata Safari Storme doing off-road action in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. The trail appears to be tricky. The Indian SUV is seen pulling a Fortuner and Hilux out of the slush after they got stuck there.
The video shows a pack of 10 off-road SUVs. You can see a Hilux, Safari Stormes, Fortuner, Pajero Sport, and a few Thars. The vehicles move in convoy to a place near the Maili dam. Soon, we see the terrain getting slushy and tricky to navigate. The YouTuber’s Safari Storme has a winch fitted on it, along with various other off-road-spec upgrades. When you go on hardcore off-road trails, it is critical to have a winch. Vehicles can (and will) get stuck at any time. On-time recovery is critical.
Here, as the terrain gets tricky, the drivers deflate the tyres to pressures that will give the maximum contact patch and the best grip. Regular tyre pressure will minimize the contact patch and make the tyres sink soon. A pressure of under 10 PSI is often considered ideal.
Electric tyre inflators and walkie-talkies are all must-have gadgets for off-roaders. The YouTuber also talks about the importance of doing a proper recce of the track before taking the vehicles in.
As the amount of slush rises, we get to see vehicles getting stuck in it. The video also mentions that some of the vehicles are on MT tyres (offroad tyres) while others are on regular highway rubber.
We see an older generation Fortuner getting stuck in the thick layer of slush. The platform seems to have beached. The only way out is by getting winched. The Safari Storme doesn’t hesitate and pulls it out like a Boss.
The Hilux too encounters a similar fate, and is recovered by the Storme. It was, however, tougher to get the pickup truck out, as the host says ‘it was badly stuck’. An additional tow strap was used to winch it out.
The next vehicle to get bogged was a Pajero Sport. It got stuck while making a slippery climb. The Safari soon pulled it out. Interestingly, the first attempt failed. The fourth recovery of the day was a Thar. It got stuck in a thick layer of slush and had to be pulled out by the Safari Storme.
Later in the video, the YouTuber says that his SUV’s winch soon broke down. Further recoveries were done by towing the bogged vehicles out using the tow strap.
Interestingly, a number of motorcycle and scooter riders are seen navigating the slushy patches comfortably. To be noted here is the fact that the terrains that they were navigating had thinner layers of slush and weren’t as tricky as those the SUVs got stuck in.
Before the video ends, the host even shows his vehicle’s winch getting fixed at a nearby garage. He also gives a bunch of useful tips and advice on how to do off-road expeditions safely. The video even mentions the essentials to carry when embarking on such expeditions, and can be very useful for beginners.
