Bank Gifts Cops Mahindra Scorpio-N SUVs

In an event organised by The South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd. (SCDCC), Mangaluru City Police was gifted two brand-new Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs. The SUVs were handed over to the police department as part of improving or helping the officers perform their duties efficiently. The cars were handed over to the department at the bank’s head office last week.
The keys to the brand-new Mahindra Scorpio N SUVs were handed over to the police department by Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager of NABARD Karnataka Regional Office. During the event, he spoke about how smoothly and efficiently the bank has been operating for years and its positive attitude towards people.
Mangaluru Police Commissioner, Sudheer Kumar Reddy, was also present at the event, and he mentioned that the cars offered to the department will actually play a crucial role in performing round-the-clock duties effectively. He added that the officers would continue to perform their duties without causing any inconvenience to the general public.
At the event, Dr. M.N. Rajendra Kumar, President of SCDCC Bank, added that the bank is actually a pride of Dakshina Kannada and has been performing well in the region while building strong connections with the community.
Coming to the Mahindra Scorpio Ns, it looks like the bank gave them the lower variants of the SUV. This is understandable, as the police department will not require a car with a premium infotainment system and screens. The SUVs are finished in a white shade, and we assume that the department is going to get custom stickering on these vehicles to differentiate them from civilian vehicles.
Even though these are lower-variant vehicles, the Scorpio N still comes with a decent number of features like AC, fabric seats, a basic infotainment system, an analog instrument cluster, airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, and so on. The lower variants of the SUV only come with halogen headlamps and also miss out on LED DRLs, fog lamps, and the dynamic LED turn indicators. As these SUVs are donated to the police department, we also see blue and red beacon lamps on the roof of the vehicles.
The Mahindra Scorpio N is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. It looks like the SUVs seen here are the diesel variants, as they are much more efficient than the petrol versions.
The diesel version of the Scorpio N is powered by a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that generates 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine in the lower variants of the Scorpio generates less power and torque than the higher variants. It is also available with a manual transmission only. The price for the entry-level Z2 variant is around Rs 13.67 lakh, ex-showroom.
The petrol version of the Scorpio N uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that generates 200 bhp and 380 Nm of peak torque. The petrol version of the Scorpio N is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. However, only select higher diesel variants get the 4x4 option.
