The bad condition of the roads in both cities and highways is something that has been discussed on our website on several occasions. For some reason, we see more such videos coming from Maharashtra. Despite being the financial capital, we have seen several reports about the pathetic condition of the roads in Maharashtra. Here we have one such video where we see a scooter rider narrowly escaping getting crushed under a car after he hits a pothole on the road.

The video has been shared by Fundamental Investor on their X profile. The video has been recorded on the dashcam of a car that was passing through the same road as the scooter. The scooter was right in front of the car, and the scooter rider was following a Maruti Ciaz ahead.

The exact location of the video is not known but, looking at the surroundings, it looks like the accident happened somewhere in Pune. The scooter rider is blindly following the car in front, and suddenly, the scooter falls into a large pothole in the middle of the road.

The scooter goes airborne, and the rider loses control. He was riding at a decent speed as he was not expecting a huge pothole to appear in front of him. The scooter goes airborne, and as soon as it touches the tarmac, the handle gets locked, and the rider falls on the road. He hits his head on the road but thankfully, he was wearing a helmet, which saved him from any kind of head injuries.

The dashcam car was right behind the scooter, and the alert driver managed to hit the brakes on time. If the car had not stopped on time, the scooter rider might have been crushed by the car. The video has been posted with a caption: “This guy fills E20 fuel & pays road tax for his vehicle. Who will pay for his spine?”

Who Is at Fault?

In this case, it is clear that the bad condition of the road is what caused the accident. The rider was not riding rashly or recklessly. He was following a car in front, because of which he couldn’t get a clear view of the road ahead. He was not expecting a large pothole to appear in front of his vehicle. The pothole was so large that it didn’t give him time to react or think. In fact, he didn’t realize it until his scooter went airborne.

He fell on the road, and thankfully, other road users stopped and decided to help the scooter rider. We can see the scooter rider walk and rest on the footpath, and it looks like he is in shock and has minor injuries. Thankfully, he was wearing a helmet. If he had not been wearing one, he might have been in serious trouble and could have suffered severe head injuries.

Some of the comments under the video criticizing the government are:

“muhahahaha. We citizens deserve it, for lacking the spine to question the ones in authority. We keep quiet, they know it, still, they continue to divide people in the name of caste, reservations, religion. We fight among ourselves, they win, bring in draconian laws, take people for granted, people suffer… they win again.”

“Meanwhile Nitin Gadkari doing quality testing of roads from a helicopter.”

“If we count, the deaths due to potholes will be more than deaths due to cancer or other diseases.”

“If someone died due to road conditions, can we file a case on the road authority or NHAI @nitin_gadkari ji?”
