Sidhu Moose Wala was a famous Indian singer and rapper. He used to work primarily in the Punjabi music industry and rose to fame for his gangster rap style. Moosewala was assassinated in 2022. His father has now added a new vehicle to his garage- a White Toyota Fortuner. Photos of the dad taking delivery of the SUV were shared by the Instagram handle Daya Karan. Sidhu Moosewalla used to drive around in a bullet-proof Fortuner when he was alive.
In the photos shared on the Instagram page, we get to see Sidhu's father receiving the keys to his new SUV. Sidhu Moose wala continues to be popular on social media, and his official Instagram handle now has over 15.8 million followers.
Daya Karan Dhaliwal's post is getting great traction online and we see a lot of people showering congratulatory comments.
Toyota sells two iterations of the SUV in India- the Fortuner and the Legender. The Fortuner comes in several variants and the ex-showroom price starts at Rs. 33.78 lakh and goes up to Rs. 51.94 lakh. The Legender is the more premium and luxurious version. The base price starts at Rs. 44.11 lakh, and goes up to Rs. 48.09 lakh for the top-spec, ex-showroom. The Punjabi singer's dad has bought the regular Fortuner and not the Legender.
The Fortuner got a notable facelift in 2021. It brought minor design changes like a new face, redesigned LED headlights that incorporate Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), larger grille, slightly reworked front bumper, and new 18-inch wheels. Even the tail lamps got slimmer.
As for the interior, not many changes were introduced on the facelift. Unlike the pre-facelift, the new SUV comes with a larger, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are even connected car functions on offer.
In addition to these, you also get things like LED ambient lighting, slightly updated instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, a nine-speaker JBL audio system, and a 360-degree camera.
The safety suite consists of seven airbags, ABS, EBS, ESC, traction control and many other features. The SUV even scored 5-star safety rating in the crash test by ASEAN-NCAP in 2020.
When the facelifted Fortuner made its India entry, it had two engine options- a 2.7L four-cylinder petrol and 2.8L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel. The petrol powertrain has an output of 164 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, is claimed to deliver 201hp and 500Nm (204 hp and 420 Nm on the automatic variants).
A 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission can be had with both engines. The diesel engine powers 4x4 variants which offer various modes like two-wheel (2H), four-wheel high (4H) and four-wheel low range (4L).
Despite its hefty price tag, the Fortuner is a top pick among the affluent. Many consider it a symbol of power and high life. We have seen many politicians add it to their garages as well. In the current market, the Fortuner and the Legender enjoy unparalleled monopolies.
Despite its popularity, the Toyota Fortuner has started showing its age. The manufacturer will likely roll out a major update to this model in the upcoming years. The new Fortuner will pack more features like ADAS (Autonomous Driver Assistance System), wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 100W power adapter that can charge your devices and an all-new MHEV (mild hybrid) diesel powertrain. This will be based on the familiar 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine and will likely make 201 PS and 500 Nm.
