Kylaq is the first sub-4 meter SUV from Czech car manufactuer in India and it was actually launched last year. However, the official deliveries for the SUV would only start later this month. Skoda had received an overwhelming response from customers and the base Classic variant of the Kylaq was sold out. The company had stopped accepting bookings for the base variant due to high demand. However, they have now announced that the booking for the Classic variant would reopen on 27th January. Skoda has also revealed the ARAI mileage figures of the Kylaq SUV.

Skoda Kylaq as we know is only available with a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine. The SUV generates 115 Ps and 178 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Skoda has now released the official fuel efficiency figures for the Kylaq. As per the Skoda, the Kylaq manual has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 19.05 kmpl and the 6-speed automatic version of the SUV has a certified efficiency of 19.68 kmpl.

When compared to the rivals, Skoda Kylaq is offering a better fuel efficiency at least on paper. For example, one of the popular SUVs in this segment is the Tata Nexon. This sub-4 meter SUV offers a ARAI certified efficiency of 17.44 kmpl in the manual version and 17.18 kmpl in AMT and 17.01 kmpl in the DCT version.

The Maruti Brezza which is again a popular choice is this segment is also offered with manual and automatic transmission option. The manual version offers 17.38 kmpl while the automatic version offers 19.8 kmpl which is slightly over the Skoda Kylaq. All other SUVs like Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and even the Mahindra XUV 3XO are less efficient than Skoda Kylaq on paper.

As we already know, the Skoda Kylaq is using the same engine as the lower version of the Kushaq. So you would expect that engine would return similar mileage figures. Skoda Kushaq is in fact 20 kilogram lighter than the Kylaq and even then it is less efficient. Skoda Kushaq 1.0 TSI MT version has a certified fuel efficiency of 19.76 kmpl and the AT variant offers 18.09 kmpl as per ARAI.
