Buying your favourite car can add joy to your life. However, investing in a car that returns awful service and ownership experiences can only make life hard for you. We have seen many people take it to social media and raise complaints whenever their car’s service experience goes wrong. Brands often respond proactively to such grievances and get things sorted. However, have you seen anyone appreciate the dealerships in public after they’ve had a great service experience? Well, not an everyday scenario. A startup CEO from Bengaluru has now set an example by doing the same. As a token of appreciation, he sent a cake to the mechanics who fixed his Volkswagen T-ROC.

Deepak Kanakaraju, the founder and CEO of MicroStartup.com, owns a Volkswagen T-Roc. It got involved in an incident, wherein a truck driver hit the car on Sarjapur Road, Bangalore. It was a minor crash and just the rear right door and rear wheel got damaged in it.

The CEO gave his car for servicing and repairs at the nearby Volkswagen service centre. Some parts needed to be repaired, others replaced. Kanakaraju says that he expected these works to take a few weeks. He further says that the car was as good as new when it was returned after all the repairs.

He further says that we often fail to appreciate how much work goes into fixing cars, and chose to extend his appreciation on the spectacular job done, through a post on LinkedIn. He shared pictures of his damaged Volkswagen SUV and the work that was done to it, along with the token of appreciation that he extended to the dealership- a cake! The post is now viral and many users are appreciating the CEO’s kind gesture.

The MicroStartup founder says that mechanics work hard in all body shops. Often, they work in harsh environments. Many a time, they risk their lives at their workplaces, as they could be filled with harmful chemicals and precipitates. To appreciate the mechanics and their hard work to get his car fixed, Deepak Kanakaraju ordered a cake from Swiggy and sent it to the dealership as a gesture of gratitude.

The entire team at the Volkswagen service centre was overwhelmed by the gesture and took a picture with the cake and the CEO’s car number near it, and sent him the same. Kanakaraju has added this to his post as well.

Volkswagen India’s official LinkedIn account responded to the post with the comment ‘Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful message. Behind every repaired car is a team of skilled professionals who put their heart into their work and your appreciation is a beautiful reminder of their dedication. It’s gestures like yours that make their hard work even more rewarding. Wishing you many happy miles.’

In his post, the CEO reasserts that we should not take services provided by mechanics for granted. Even though we pay for it, it is good to appreciate it beyond the paycheck. Being nice or polite to these people can perhaps make their day. Being nice and kind to cooks, maids, drivers, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, construction workers and everyone who is working hard to make our lives better is a good quality to possess.

On a more controversial note, he even said ‘ don’t be kind to politicians & paper pushers. Demand the best from them and hold them accountable.’
