Students In Mahindra Thar And Hyundai Creta fined Rs 69,500 For Stunting On Public Roads [Video]
On social media these days, it isn’t rare to come across people doing insane (and stupid) stuff for views and fame. Many a time, these stunts create inconvenience to the public. One such case has now surfaced from Greater Noida. A group of students did stunts with a Hyundai Creta and a Mahindra Thar on an open road, bringing the traffic around to a complete standstill. A video of the same was later shared online, eventually triggering strict action from authorities. UP police slapped a fine of Rs 69,500 on the violators.
Students Perform Stunts On Public Roads
In the video shared online, we can see a three-door Mahindra Thar and a Hyundai Creta, both finished in Black, running in circles in the middle of the road, near the Galgotias University underpass.
Both are being driven roughly; the drivers may be trying to get the tails out. Both, however, seem to have ample traction. The Thar here is equipped with oversized wheels. Even the Creta is running on aftermarket wheels.
The act seems to have blocked the road. This underpass is situated on the Yamuna Expressway. We can also see more SUVs- from the Tata Punch to Mahindra Thar, waiting nearby. It is likely that some of these are waiting to join the stunt. This act definitely put the lives of those around at risk.
The video went viral in no time. People started engaging with the content and resharing it. It soon came to the notice of the UP police.

These stunts were performed on October 2nd. The very next day, the Noida police department shared another post on its social media handles. It showed a challan that was issued to these violators. The SUV driver here was slapped with a fine of Rs 69,500.
The police also made it clear that orders were given to identify the other vehicles involved, using their registration plates. Legal action will be initiated against these as well.
Video Sparks Outrage Online
The video clip has made netizens angry. Many criticised the students who were involved in this. Many called for strict action. ‘Put them in jail for 1 month with their parents who gave money for car’, commented a user. ‘Seize their vehicles and auction them...Fine is not enough. License should be suspended for a year’ -said another.
Not The First Such Incident
This isn’t the first instance of reckless driving in the area. The count of such incidents have, in fact, gone up in the recent past. In June this year, three cars that performed dangerous stunts on public roads, were slapped with a hefty fine of Rs 1.21 lakh. A video of the violation that went viral triggered the action in this case as well. Further investigation has also been ordered into the incident.
This stunt happened near the GL Bajaj College in Greater Noida. The video shows three cars- a Maruti Brezza, Baleno, and a Volkswagen Polo- being driven in a zigzag fashion. The Brezza and Polo seem to be carrying good speed, and the former nearly loses control at some point in the clip. Two men stand through the windows of the Baleno, one of whom even has a rod in his hand. The driver of this car has his door half-open to pose for the picture. All these happen on a public road!
The video racked up views online and sparked outrage among netizens. Noida’s traffic department soon took action against the violators. A challan amounting to Rs 1.21 lakh was issued. This included Rs 63,500 for one of these vehicles and Rs 57,500 for the other.
The charges here were dangerous driving (Section 184, Motor Vehicles Act ), overspeeding (Section 189), seatbelt violation (section 194B), and disobedience and obstruction (Section 179).
