Tamil Moviestar Suriya Gifts Meiyazhagan Director Brand New Mahindra Thar ROXX: Director Puts Up Emotional Post
Tamil actors Suriya and (his brother) Karthi have gifted Premkumar, who directed the 2024 release 'Meiyazhagan', a brand new Mahindra Thar ROXX. The gift comes as a gesture of love after the movie rose to success. The director was stunned at the development and shared a heartfelt note on social media.
Premkumar has delivered two hits in his directorial career- 96 and Meiyazhagan. The latter of these starred Karthi (Suriya's brother) and Arvind Swami in lead roles, and was produced by Suriya and Jyotika under their own production house. The movie rose to almost instant popularity and was a commercial success. The director managed to build a strong rapport with Suriya and Karthi during the making of this project.
Prem Kumar admitted on social media that the Thar has been his dream vehicle for long. Like many, he too waited for the five-door version- the ROXX to arrive, due to practicality concerns. He was even clear about the specific variant he wanted- the AX5 L 4x4 in White!
Putting an end to anticipations, Mahindra launched the 5-door Thar on August 15, 2024. Prem Kumar was soon 'financially' ready to go for it. His plans were shattered once he got to know that the ROXX's waiting period was soaring and he'd have to wait another year to get take his SUV home!
"I sought the help of my ever reliant Raja Sir (producer Rajsekar Pandian), to see if it’s possible to get it any sooner. Amidst his busy schedules he took my deep desire very seriously. He tried every way legitimately possible at his disposal. If we get the variant we didn't get the colour, If we get the colour it didn't have 4x4. Something kept missing. I lost patience, but Raja Sir never gave up. Whenever I assumed he must've forgot, he gave updates." he explained in his post.
At some point in time, he had to spend the money he had saved for the ROXX, on something else- life and its unpleasant surprises! The dream moved farther away. Prem Kumar informed this to Rajsekar who interestingly, kept silent! A silence which had a plan..
A couple of days ago, the director got a picture from Suriya, which showed a White Thar ROXX AX5L 4x4. The text that followed read 'it has come'. He was shocked and immediately called Pandian saying 'I don't have the money to buy it now'.
To his surprise, the producer laughed and said, 'Prem, it's a gift for you from Suriya Sir'!
This ROXX Was Delivered In Style!
For taking delivery of his Mahindra Thar ROXX, Prem Kumar was invited to 'Lakshmi Illam'- Suriya's residence. He describes the experience as 'As the gates opened, it disclosed A majestic white Thar ROXX AX5L 4x4 waiting to start it's long journey with me. Alongside it stood my dearest Karthi Brother, who quickly handed over the keys to unlock my dream(s).
I stood in utter disbelief. We went for a short ride, and then I drove the Thar to my office. It's been a couple of days and I've driven the Thar for at least 50kms. It still feels like a dream..'
In a video shared by the director, Karthi is even seen giving his autograph on the left-side sunvisor.
On the career front, this director is preparing for his next big venture- the sequel to the emotional romantic drama '96'. Right from his directorial debut- 96, Prem Kumar has set high standards for himself. The upcoming movies are expected to take these further up.
More About The Thar ROXX AX5L 4x4
The AX5L 4x4 variant comes with a diesel engine alone. Powering it is the 2.2L turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 172 hp and 370 Nm. It can be had with both a manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic. It looks like the gifted Thar is an automatic.
Mahindra offers both Ivory and Mocha Brown as cabin colourway options on the 4x4 variants of Thar ROXX. The SUV in this case, comes with Ivory interiors. Honestly, the Mocha brown variants would have commanded much longer waiting spans! The AX5L 4WD has an ex-showroom price of 21.08 lakh, and the on-road price in Chennai would be around Rs 26.93 lakh.
