Tata Motors launched the Curvv EV in India in August 2024. It soon rose to acceptance with its smart, coupe-like design and capable electric powertrain. In the time that followed, we saw Curvv EV owners making good use of the vehicle’s V2L (Vehicle To Load) abilities- from making tea and deep frying pooris to powering water pumps. Some even did water wading with the EV! Now, it looks like this all-electric coupe has found a new role- it has been inducted as a cop car in Himachal Pradesh (HP)! A video shared on Twitter shows as many as six curvv EVs with cop livery, parked outside a Tata showroom in HP, for delivery.

The Video

In it, the host shows a quick walkaround of the parked Curvv EVs. We can see the rear and side views of these vehicles. The base colour of these coupes is White. At the sides, a bold Black strip can be seen running along the length of the car. ‘Police’ is written on it. We can also see the 18-inch aero-optimized alloy wheels of the vehicle, shod with 215/55 EV tyres.

These vehicles will serve in the ‘Road Safety Enforcement’ department. The helpline number (112) is also marked on the rear fender and tailgate. The roof is finished in Black and has beacon lights installed on it. The coupe-like roofline looks great with these lights, when viewed from the side. ‘Police’ is written on the rear (and hopefully the front) windshields. Overall, the Curvv EV with this cop livery packs good visual appeal.

More About The Curvv EV

Like many other Tatas of the day, the Curvv EV too offers a wide range of variants to choose from. Five broad trims are available- Creative, Accomplished, Accomplished Plus S, Empowered Plus, and Empowered Plus A. Dark Edition variants can also be opted for on some of these. It is unclear as to which of these variants has reached the police department. At the time of writing, the Curvv EV prices start at Rs 17.49 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 21.99 lakh.

The EV comes with two battery pack options- 45Wh and 55kWh. The department is likely to have opted for the bigger battery pack as it offers an MIDC range of 585km on a single charge. The real-world range for this unit is around 420+ km.

The electric motor powers the front axle and delivers 167hp and 215Nm on the larger battery version. 0-100 kph comes in just 8.6 seconds and the top speed is 160kph. The 45 kWh version, on the other hand, has 150hp on offer, and slightly slower 0-100 kph acceleration.

As mentioned above, the Curvv EV comes with advanced features like Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) charging. This means that the vehicle battery can be used to power electronic devices or charge other EVs. These capabilities will likely help in road safety enforcement operations.

The Curvv EV also has a ground clearance and water wading depth of 190mm and 450mm, respectively. These will help on Himachal’s tricky roads and terrains

Talking of features, the Curvv EV comes equipped with the likes of a 12.3-inch floating infotainment touchscreen, a touch-based climate control panel, trapezoidal AC vents, a four-spoke steering, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, a 320W 9-speaker JBL audio, Type C USB charging ports, ventilated seats, reclinable rear seat, cooled glove box, connected car tech, panoramic sunroof, level 2 ADAS and a powered tailgate.
