Tata Curvv SUV With 5 Passengers Falls Into A Stream After Driver Follows Google Maps [Video]

Google Maps is an application that almost everyone who commutes uses on a daily basis. However, we have come across several videos lately where Google Maps or navigation apps are turning out to be the villain in people’s lives. The latest incident comes from Telangana, where a Tata Curvv with five occupants fell into a stream after the driver followed Google Maps.
As per reports, the incident happened on Saturday last week. This occurred at the Vadlakonda crossroads in Jangaon district, Telangana, early in the morning. The car had five occupants, and they were travelling from Nagpur.
The group was said to be travelling from Nagpur to Tirupati, and as the driver or the occupants were not sure about the route, they relied on Google Maps. The driver, as expected, was following Google Maps blindly and, while doing so, failed to notice that the bridge on which he was driving was still under construction. The car fell into the stream, and thankfully, none of the occupants in the car sustained any serious injuries.
They were immediately taken to Jangaon Area Hospital by local police. The local police reached the spot almost immediately after being informed about the accident. After the crash, locals and other road users came forward, complaining about the lack of any diversion or signboard indicating that the area was under construction. Poor visibility was also a contributing factor behind this accident. After the incident, the police blocked the road with soil to ensure that vehicles don’t accidentally drive onto the bridge.
Once again, we are assuming that Google Maps was showing the driver a route that directed him to drive over the bridge. The application didn’t show that the road was under construction. From the images, it looks like the Tata Curvv SUV absorbed the impact pretty well. The body panels and the doors look damaged, but it is nothing major. The Tata Curvv is a 5-star SUV, and that was probably one more reason why the occupants escaped unhurt from the crash.
This is not the first time we have come across an incident like this. Just weeks ago, we came across another incident where a Hyundai Verna was left hanging mid-air after the driver, following Google Maps, drove over an under-construction flyover. The accident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district. The highway, which connects India and Nepal via the Gorakhpur-Sonauli route, is currently undergoing construction work at several spots.
The Verna owner was following Maps, and it directed him to drive over the flyover, which was still under construction. Once again, there were no diversion signs, which made things difficult for the driver.
People have, in fact, lost lives because of such avoidable mistakes. One such accident was reported from Uttar Pradesh, where a Maruti WagonR fell into a river from a bridge that was under construction. The driver and occupants were following Google Maps, which showed the incomplete bridge as the fastest route. Three people, including the driver, died in this tragic accident.
