Tata Motors, as of recently, has come under scrutiny from many buyers. A lot of people are complaining about the quality of Tata vehicles and Tata service centres. Most recently, a new video has gone viral on the internet where a Tata Harrier buyer rejected the delivery of his brand-new SUV after it failed PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). The short clip showed that this particular Harrier had already shown rusting. There were a number of other flaws in this vehicle as well.

Buyer Rejects Brand-New Tata Harrier After Failed PDI

This video of the Tata Harrier’s delivery being rejected after it failed PDI has been shared on Instagram by Dakshkapaksh on their page. It starts off with the person introducing the owner of the car. He states that they came to the Tata dealership for the PDI of this Harrier Black Edition.

However, during the PDI, a number of issues were found with the vehicle. The first and most major concern highlighted by the buyer was that this brand-new Harrier had already started rusting. It can be noted from the video that a few different bolts and their crush washers were rusting.

Following this, he shows the key of this Harrier and mentions that it looks like a 6-month-old key. It was completely covered with scratches. After this, he adds that even the battery of the vehicle is dead. The video shows that one of the sales representatives was arguing with the buyer, stating that it is not dead.

Next, the buyer also adds that the car has swirl marks all across its body. Apart from this, the engine oil of this brand-new, 107 km driven Harrier is black. He also adds that the SUV has a chunk missing from one of its tires. Finally, the buyer mentions that there is condensation in the rear left taillight as well.

Did the Buyer Take Delivery?

Following the PDI, the person recording the video asks the owner if he will take the delivery of this car or not. To this, he replies that after seeing all of the issues with this particular vehicle, he will not be taking delivery of this Harrier. He added that if the dealership offers him a fresh vehicle without any issues, he will take the delivery.

Netizens’ Reactions

Many netizens have reacted to this video online, and a lot of them have appreciated the buyer for doing a thorough PDI. They stated that addressing all the issues before taking delivery is better than going after dealerships in the future when things become worse.

We are sure that after watching the above video, you must have understood why PDI is so important for a vehicle before delivery. However, if you still have not understood, we are here to explain. PDI, or Pre-Delivery Inspection, is a very crucial step before taking delivery of any vehicle as it helps avoid buying a car with major issues.

During PDI checks, a vehicle is thoroughly inspected. This requires checking all the mechanical components, electrical systems, exterior, interior, fluid levels, and tire conditions. During a PDI, the vehicle should be in the best condition possible.

Tata Motors’ Poor Service and After-Sales

This is not the first time that Tata Motors has come under scrutiny online. Over the last few months, we have shared numerous cases of buyers struggling with Tata Motors’ vehicles. Most recently, a case from Patna, Bihar, was shared online in which a brand-new Tata Safari was delivered to its owner with a brake issue.

The owner of this particular Safari highlighted the issue of losing brakes on the day of its delivery. However, the dealership representatives assured him that it would become normal after a few days of driving. Eventually, this loose brake caused a huge accident involving this owner on a highway with a tractor.

As a result of this accident, the entire right portion of this SUV was destroyed. The SUV was then taken to the dealership. However, even after keeping the vehicle at the service station for over 40 days, it was still not fixed. The worst part about this case was that the owner of this SUV was abused by the dealership representatives.
