Tata Motors, after a long period, recently launched an all-wheel-drive vehicle, and it is none other than the Harrier.ev. The electric SUV gets QWD, or Quad Wheel Drive, and uses its dual motor setup to power all four wheels. Recently, a video has gone viral on the internet in which a Tata Harrier.ev was seen rescuing a Mahindra Thar ROXX, which was royally stuck in a mud ditch.

The video showing the Mahindra Thar ROXX stuck while off-roading and getting rescued by a Tata Harrier.ev has been shared on Instagram by The Harrier World on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger sitting inside the Harrier.ev, stating that his vehicle will now be rescuing this Mahindra Thar ROXX.

Following this, we can note that the Mahindra Thar ROXX was stuck in a deep, muddy ditch and was unable to come out. This particular SUV was then strapped to the Harrier.ev, which then started pulling it. During the first pull, the Thar ROXX did not come out of the mud pit. However, during the second pull by the Harrier.ev, the Thar ROXX came out.

Did Harrier.ev save the day?

In this particular scenario, the Tata Harrier.ev indeed saved the day for the Mahindra Thar ROXX driver. However, it has to be mentioned that the Harrier.ev might not have been required for the rescue of the Thar ROXX if it had been a 4X4 variant. We can note that the Thar ROXX in this video is the 4X2 variant, which is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

So, as you know, 4X2 vehicles should not be used for hardcore off-roading, but there are still people who think their vehicle can easily tackle tough terrains without the proper 4X4 system. In this particular case, the owner learned this lesson the hard way.

Tata Harrier.ev: A capable off-roader?

As mentioned, the Harrier.ev is the latest electric SUV from Tata Motors, and after the Hexa (which was a proper 4X4), it is the only all-wheel-drive-capable SUV. The Harrier.ev, in its top-spec Empowered+ QWD variant, comes offered with a dual motor setup, which provides it with all-wheel-drive capabilities.

At the front, it gets a high-performance induction motor, which makes 158 PS. Meanwhile, in the rear, it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which makes 238 PS. Combined, this SUV makes 396 PS of power and an impressive 504 Nm of torque, which is the highest in its segment.

Now, coming to the off-road-specific details, this SUV offers six different terrain modes: Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl, and, lastly, Custom (the driver can create a custom mode). It also gets Off-Road Assist, which helps in managing torque for extreme terrain scenarios like deep mud or uneven rock patches.

Other notable highlights of the Harrier.ev include a 540-degree camera with transparent mode, multi-link rear suspension, and a 600 mm water wading capacity, which, for an electric SUV, is quite impressive. The Harrier.ev with the QWD starts at Rs 28.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 30.23 lakh.
